A state of flow in a garden of grace...

What if a place could bring you back to your center, to yourself.. close to your heart and your body ?
Feeling yourself.

Experiencing the "Nothing", the "Pause", or call it also "the Off" state will really change your life.
It’s the proposition of ULPOTHA and the philosophy of AYURVEDA.

Softening with natural surroundings. I wanted to practice on deepening a body relax and a mind so soft for my whole energy to flow… part of it was the yoga and the ayurvedic treatments.

Our dear Yoga Teacher, Mika de Brito, took us in the the Place: the state of flow in a garden of grace..
I wanted to work on creating space in my body and thus in my soul.
What I get: the Fire in my belly !!

Letting everything in Pause, a timeless pause... from where things happens, the beginnings.. you will find that in ULPOTHA.
What I get the space in my soul to create, the lightness in my body to receive.

Simply the best !

If you are looking for a beautiful place, to be in touch with nature at its best, to practice yoga twice a day with an excellent teacher, to enjoy the most amazing vegetarian food and be surrounded by the most amazing and gracious people ... don't think twice ... go to Ulpotha !
And do it for two weeks ... you will regret it if you only go for one.

After the first week the magic starts to take effect.

Ulpotha holds a very special place in my life. Perhaps I am an Ulpotha addict as I have been to Upotha six years in a row. This is the one place in the world I have found where I can completely unplug and connect to myself. Where I say goodbye to the digital world and hello to whoever is that person inside. There are many magical aspects that contribute to the transformative experience...

the simplicity of life, the villagers that work at Ulpotha who attend to every little detail with big smiles, their comradery between each other, the vegetarian food they prepare fresh from their organic garden over traditional wood burning fire, the twice daily yoga classes, the curious monkeys, the stunning song birds, the refreshing swims in the lake, the lack of electronic things, the oil lamps that set the romantic ambiance in the evenings, the flower bowl creations made daily, the rusticity of the ayruveda village, the distant chanting of the forest monks during a full moon, the stars, the tree house, the lake house, the friendliness of the owners and management, the surprise evening performances by the local villagers.... At Ulpotha, being embraced by nature is a big part of the transformative experience - the mud huts are open to the jungle air and the paths are compacted sand. At the same time, everything is clean - the paths and mud huts are swept twice a day, the mozy nets over the bed are brought up in the morning and down in the evening. If it's chilly at night you get a warm water bottle. The guests that are drawn to Ulpotha come from interesting walks of life - often quite open-minded and intellectually curious. And thus, I have met many friends from all over the world with whom I keep in touch. Alternatively, you can get lost from the crowd if you wish, as the grounds are quite expansive. Sit on a swing by the lake and listen to the birds forgetting that there is even a book in your lap and unintentionally take an afternoon nap. Come without prejudice or expectations, be open to the flow and allow whatever is coming to you to transpire. You will be held on a soft cloud from which you will not wish to descend...

Ulpotha December 2015

My experience at Ulpotha was nothing more than positive for the week stay in the lush jungle setting of Sri Lanka. Being amongst nature and fresh air was simply magic, open mud hut accommodation, incredible vegetarian food, yoga, swimming in the freshwater lake, Ayurveda treatment, and a fantastic complimentary massage.

2-hour yoga sessions in the morning and evening, and you can certainly choose to miss out, lie in or chill in the afternoon depending on your energy. I didn’t miss one and feel much stronger for it!

The food is organically grown in the rich gardens and prepared in a small very well managed kitchen from the beautiful, friendly staff; I had a sneak peek often as the aromas were delightful. Of course, I was hungry from all the yoga!

Ulpotha is the extreme of being chilled out or busy with Ayurveda, massage or a relaxed schedule. It’s a safe place for individual travellers where you can be yourself by yourself or with your partner.

We had 10 people in our diverse group; this was fortunate as we were able to connect during yoga, lunch and dinner about our daily experiences with many laughs. The 22-acre property comfortably accommodates 20 guests but can increase depending on the event.

You do not spend any money in Ulpotha unless you want to purchase further treatments (or cook books or 3 as I did).

Lastly, Suzi is the ultimate host, who makes each an every person feel welcome and safe and guides us if we need assistance. She is a very special Woman with an amazing energy who will make you want to visit again and again.
