20 Yoga Classes in the United States

These classes are for students in good physical condition, who have a basic familiarity with commonly used asanas and transitions and are working on improving their breath, alignment, balance, flexibility and fitness all while cultivating a more inward focus. These classes introduce more advanced asanas and tend to move at a swifter pace than the Beginning and Beginning-Intermediate classes and offer more refinement to the practice.

Vinyasa Yoga is a dynamic system of practicing asanas (poses). Yoga postures flow in a logical sequence. Each position complements those that precede and follow. This practice focuses on the synchronization of breath & the continuous flow of movement. Vinyasa is a strong practice that builds heat, endurance, flexibility, strength and mental focus. This class can be strenuous; may be appropriate for beginners.

Laura is often described as the consummate student and teacher and each of her classes have a body, mind, spirit and heart component and support the integration of all aspects of the Self. Expect to be profoundly transformed on and off the mat as Laura skillfully and supportively challenges you in any of the categories of poses: standing and seated poses, sun salutations, back and forward bends, twists, hip openers, arm balances and inversions, core work and oftentimes a short chant and pranayama. She artfully and thoughtfully sequences her classes around a specific principle and/or form and progressively guides students into deeper and deeper experiences of that expression in a safe way. Laura clearly illuminates the wealth of alignment knowledge that she has gained from her more than 2 decades of study and invites a deep listening within so that students can embody these principles as their own truth within. Class themes are practical yet soulful and are intended to give students a take away into the reality of their lives off the mat. Regular attendance leads to a profound learning of one’s own body, spirit and mind and inspires students to reach their fullest potential. The class atmosphere is one of support, encouragement, community, contemplation and fun.

A physically inspired derivation of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga. Special attention is paid to the connection of breath, movement, sequencing and alignment.

This is a yoga class which concentrates on physical health and mental well-being. Hatha yoga uses bodily postures (asanas), breathing techniques(pranayama), and meditation techniques(dyana) with the goal of bringing about a sound, healthy body and a clear, peaceful mind. The asanas work to make the spine supple, the core strong and supple and to promote circulation in the organs, glands, and tissues. Hatha yoga postures strengthen and stretch the body, promoting balance and flexibility.

These classes prepare pregnant women for labor and delivery through postures, breathing exercises and relaxation. The class focuses on a gentle flow of movement to increase your overall strength and flexibility with modifications to accommodate the various stages of pregnancy. Whether you are new to yoga or already have an established yoga practice these unique classes offer you techniques to restore balance and vitality during pregnancy and assist in preparing for and providing relief during labor and birth.

Anusara classes blend a spiritual context to awaken and celebrate the heart with the Universal Principles of Alignment, which bring the body toward its optimal muscular, skeletal, and energetic blueprint. This class is appropriate for beginners.

Weaving together principles of alignment with a meditative flow this class offers a physically challenging practice embraced with heart and spirit! Modifications and instructions offered for those newer to the practice.

A sweaty, intermediate / advanced Power Flow class! Room is heated to 90 degrees.

Mixed Level Class

A dynamic practice for all levels, linking breath with movement, to cultivate an active, moving meditation. These classes begin with a slow, mindful build to a focused and playful sequence. The practice includes challenging flow and the introduction of advanced postures (with variations for all bodies), balanced with gentle and grounding poses to bring your body, mind and heart to an optimal place of connection and balance. All Levels

Deep Flow is a sophisticated sequence, incorporating various aspects of asana practices, which bring students in touch with sensation and the energetic body of practice. It can incorporate elements of Yin, Shadow, Vinyasa, Bihar, and Iyengar yoga, eliciting profound experiences for the practitioners. It can range from rich restorative to intense strengthening sequences and back, allowing students to be mindful of their journey. Deep Flow also uses the Ayurvedic principle of adapting classes based on seasons and time of the day. Students will build both mental and physical strength and flexibility.

Hatha / Alignment

Power vinyasa class aimed at building body awareness through strength building, correct alignment, and movement with breath. This class offers vigorous sequencing to open and challenge students in their practice. Three classes offered weekly at Marathon Plaza, California St., and North Point locations.
