Art of Living Yoga is a program put together by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of the Art of Living Foundation. Dance is born out of yoga and is an extension of it, as it goes beyond static postures, incorporating graceful and rhythmic movements. It incorporates traditional Asanas (yoga postures), Pranayams (controlled breathing), Mudras (gestured expressions) and Laya (rhythm). Dance begins with the belief that it is not enough to move just to strengthen the muscles but it is the art of moving, through mindful and conscious, breath focused movements which provides a holistic experience…

The class starts with breathing exercises to center the mind and connect to the body. We then warm the body with sun salutations followed by held standing postures while emphasizing on correct breathing and mental focus.

Combines asanas (postures) with conscious breathing and focus to develop strength, flexibility and mental clarity. Students can expect a slow-paced, meditative yoga experience to help develop body awareness and explore varied postures in a mixed-level environment.

The word “hatha” comes from the Sanskrit terms “ha” meaning “sun” and “tha” meaning “moon”. Thus, Hatha Yoga is known as the branch of Yoga that unites pairs of opposites referring to the positive (sun) and negative (moon) currents in the system. It concentrates on the third (Asana) and fourth (Pranayama) limb in the Eight Limbs of Yoga. Yoga focused on breathing and postures which are held for a while to benefit from their healing power.
