POWER YOGA: Focuses on strength and flexibility using intense flows for an ultimate workout. Even if you’re a beginner, we encourage you to try the ALL/LEVEL 1 & 2 POWER YOGA FLOW class. The POWER YOGA classes are designed to raise your heart rate, with an intention of getting sweaty, leaving you with a ”wipe the slate clean” feeling.

Based on Shakti Dance™ system, and inspired to Hatha yoga and KundaliniYoga science, this class is a nice slow flow to stretch the body, to re-store the natural flow of vital energy into the subtle channels and the physical body. This class, will leave you with a deep sense of belonging, grounded and fully regenerated. Class starts with chants, and will end with meditation.

This class is dynamic, composed of a series of poses blended together to create heat and energy flow. The instructor will gauge the class and create a sequence that is suitable for all levels. Some classes incorporate more Yin elements at the end for longer holds, stretching on the mat, and deep meditative poses.

This class is a wonderful balance between restorative poses and dynamic flow. Come and be pleasantly surprised! Then leave feeling restored.

Secausus Rec. center

a 90 minute sequence of hatha, flow and hot yoga poses. approximately 56 poses are done in this series with sun salutations.

Know your body, know your mind. Supreme control over the physical self, is one path to enlightenment. The Taoists concepts of Yin and Yang describe the two qualities or energies present in everything; from our food and our bodies, to the seasons and world around us. Yin qualities can be thought of as more internal, passive, cooling and downward while Yang is more external, dynamic, warming and upward. We can also think of our bodies and our yoga practice in terms of Yin and Yang. In this style class, Mary Jane guides her students through a Lotus Flow creative sequence that is dynamic with strengthening poses that work on the yang tissues for building strength and fitness while the second part of the class focuses on soothing, grounding, restorative poses that turn off the overdrive switch. The long, supportive holds in the Yin portion of the class helps the body and mind to relax and release tension, both mentally and physically while creating gentle traction and compression that helps to flush out toxins and lubricate the joints, while releasing tension in the surrounding connective tissues. This in essence helps us to discover the nature of true self.

Appropriate for those with moderate yoga experience.

We encourage creativity while the kids learn traditional yoga in a very kid-friendly, non-competitive environment. We start to introduce yogic breathing and relaxation techniques while maintaining an energetic level with basic postures.

Vinyasa (also called Flow) classes maintain awareness and focus on the breath while moving through a series of postures. The sequence of postures may be different from class to class, but you work at your own pace, following the teacher’s constant guidance. Breath awareness, meditation, hands-on alignment and relaxation. Classes are accessible for all leveled students from beginner to advance and all are welcomed.

The Vinyasa flow class is a physically challenging class which integrates physical poses, breath work, meditation, music and other traditional elements of yoga designed to be fun and accessible for all experience levels. Variations and/or modifications will be offered throughout to enable each student to customize the practice to what they need at that time and make the practice their own. The class will begin with centering and breath awareness (pranayama), warming sequences (pratapana) to prepare the body for various yoga posture sequences (asanas) which focus on building strength, balance and flexibility and then wind down with gentle stretches and restorative poses ending with a deep relaxation and meditation.
