Hath Yoga is the most widely practice form of yoga in the world. In this Hatha yoga class we use postures (asana) and conscious breathing (Pranayama) in combination with mental focus to develop awareness, strength and flexibility, and relaxation. There is a great deal of attention to proper alignment and mindful actions of the body. Variations are given to offer appropriate levels of challenge and postures are often held for several breaths. Beginners are welcomed however knowledge for Downward Dog, Warriors, Bridge pose, and Triangle would be helpful.
Hatha yoga is sometimes called a "dual" type of yoga because it includes a duality between two opposites: the sun (in Hinda, "ha") and the moon ("tha"). Some who practice Hatha yoga call it a "yoking" yoga as it joins these two opposites together. This main established principle for Hatha yoga leads to specific structured poses and other activities that help with body and mind "purification" through principles like asana (postures), pranayama (subtle energy control) and more.

Move through 70% of the dynamic Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary (1st) series (see Ashtanga Vinyasa Level 3/4) in this moderate tempo, up-beat class. Strengthen and detoxify your body with this powerful and graceful practice. You’ll learn “jump-throughs”, “jump-backs” and the precise rhythm of breath that brings mental clarity and focus. All Levels welcome, advanced students deepen your understanding of Primary Series moving at a slightly slower pace.

A vinyasa style class for all levels.

Judy begins her classes with mindfulness and breath focus in floor seated poses, moving up to traditional standing poses for stretching and strengthening. Students are encouraged to listen to their bodies - not their ego, to rest in their favorite pose whenever needed, and to move away from pain or strain or forcing the body into any pose.

Students should be able to sit comfortably without a chair, easily move from floor, to hands and knees, and to standing.

Level 1-2 is our most popular offering. These classes offer options for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students. Familiarity with Sun Salutations is highly recommended. You will be challenged to find your edge.
