The best yoga out there!

After tasting Agama yoga, no other yoga was satisfying for me. I practiced yoga for ten years before Agama and realized how little I knew after the first day of Level One. And there are so many levels and workshops. Im so happy! I can learn forever and make yoga an integrated part of my life.
Thank you!

Game Changer!

Exceeded my already high expectations of the place! I am saying this very sincerely. I have found what I have been searching for in my yoga practice for years here at Agama and I intend to complete the whole program and more. Teachers are very knowledgable, humble, and helpful. Swami is a man of immense wisdom, humility, and compassion. ADVICE: Agama of course might not be for everyone. If you try it, really give it a full and honest go. Really follow what the teachers are telling you. When you don't want to go to class is the most important time to go and don't skip anything. It will be tough for some but you will be blow away by the results! Namaste :)

Life Changing Yoga Program

I took Agama's intensive level 1 course this month (150 hours, 6 hours/day, 6 days/week) and I fell in love with the school, Hatha yoga, tantra and the Yogic philosophy. The teachers are friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The course curriculum is intense, but well balanced and structured. The classrooms are spacious and well equipped. The school's Evolution cafe serves excellent healthy, veggie food with vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free options.

The location is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G in a small village in a tropical Thai island with turquoise blue waters, white sand, and peaceful (almost private) beaches! The school planned some fun events for students from all over the world to get to know each other such as brunches and boat tours. We also had a graduation ceremony at the end of the course to celebrate our achievement! In addition to that, I truly enjoyed the extra activities around campus such as weekly Satsangs and bhajans, daily meditations and the occasional live music concerts in the evening. I highly recommend this school and will be returning to Thailand soon to continue on to level 2! Thanks Agama!

Level 1 Intensive Course

I've just finished the one month intensive course and I can not be more grateful and satisfied with Agama Yoga.
This was my first yoga experience ever and I highly recommend it. I have learned and practiced 20 asanas plus the incredible night lectures about kriya yoga, yamas and niyamas, meditation and more topics on "living" as a yogin/i...
Besides there are a lot of extra curricular activities going on everyday and workshops, retreats, etc.
Amazing place to know global people and make new friends...
I'm already taking my level 2 course, what else can I say?

I coursed level 1 and really enjoyed it! At agama they have a different approach of hatha yoga, connecting the knowledge of asanas, energy and chackras that I had never heard before in other yoga schools, which was awesome! Recommend it! I wish I had the opportunity to Stay longer for other levels.

Unexpected AMAZING experience

I signed up for the one-month intensive class at the recommendation of a friend. Having done yoga in the US for a number of years, starting with Hatha and working into Ashtanga, I heard the asana practice could be a bit too easy on the body but wanted to come for the deep philosophical lecture experience Agama offers.

I was amazed at the depth of knowledge of the program, the authenticity to yoga as a spiritual practice, the organization of the program and the ability of the experience to meet each person where they are at with the own practice. Everyone that stuck with the program left equipped with all the essential tools to carry yoga into their daily life and evolve spiritually. No joke, it's a lot of work and comes with some sticky purification regardless of one's physical or spiritual development, but the outcome is eternally valuable.

Hi, Aaron!
Thank you so much for your review! We are very glad to know that people leave so happy with our Level 1, especially in your case, that has a lot of experience! Proof that we are doing a good program both for beginners and advanced yoga practitioners.

Life changing

My husband and I did the level 1 yoga course at Agama to find some answers: how to be happy in this crazy western world we live in today. How to cope with difficulties, depression and disappointment, how to find ourselves and to reconnect with what is really essential in life. At Agama we found (inner)peace and tranquility, we learned how to press on the pause button and to see the world and our existance through a different point of view.

It was a real eye opener and after 1 month we had so many new or renewed goals which we still live by now at home. We do not only cherish the good memories but really live our life with big or small things that we've learned from the teachers, and this every day. We sometimes laugh about being reborn, but actually there is no better way than to describe this experience.
The hatha yoga was new to us but we really felt good during and afterwards, and I do not only mean physically. The way that Agama introduces the asanas by explaining the theory and guide you through the practice is really high-level, in a way that you really feel and know what you are doing. And not only the asanas, but we got to hear a lot of lectures on yoga, yamas and niyamas, on nutrition and cleansing, etc. Basically you get to know everything to become a better person, with instant results. There is so much more to learn in the following levels, but for now we are very grateful to have had this experience because this was what we really needed, and we can only recommend this highly to everyone who feels like they're a bit lost or who wants to learn the 'real' yoga, not only the 'fitness yoga' we see in the gym. It is worth the money, it is worth your time. I promise!

Heaps of knowledge you won't find anywhere else!

This is not your typical western gymnastics that is often called yoga now days. This is a traditional hatha yoga supported by esoteric and forgotten theory. One month here will give you more knowledge and understanding of yoga then most of the modern westerner teachers. I would recommend Agama to anyone who believes that yoga is and should be a tool for personal and spiritual growth!

One of the few yoga schools that teaches from the ancient art of yoga and is still very down to earth. Great system which provides deep knowledge, experiences and wisdom. The setting of the Island made it perfect for me.

Just another happy Agama Alumni

If you are looking for a holistic approach to yoga, this is the place to go.
The level 1 intensive class is a complete introduction for a very reasonable price.

The atmosphere is more like a yoga university that a "school". The classes in level 1 are very big. This might disturb some. But for me it was great. There were many interesting people in the class and you could always talk to the teachers after class if you had a private question that you did not want to share with the whole group.

The only downside I can think of: The school's "Soma Restaurant" isn't the best restaurant in town. It's okay for a snack between classes, but you will eventually find yourself craving food from other places like the Orion.

Unlike other places, I did not feel that Agama tried hard to sell me anything. Normally, when a product or service was mentioned in class (which wasn't very often anyways), the teachers also mentioned free or less expensive alternatives that did not earn any money for Agama.

Before visiting, I read an old review on Tripadvisor, indicating that Agama might be somewhat sex-focused. Bear in mind that the spiritual yoga practice at Agama might awaken all kinds of emotions in people and some just go crazy writing all kinds of reviews online. While sexuality is not excluded from their curriculum, it definitely is not at the core of the level 1 teachings. Even the tantra workshop I attended seemed a little prudish by European standards, as there was absolutely no nudity.

Finally, the entire village (Sri Thanu) around Agama is a great place to be. Note that the first day of the level 1 class is free, and there is not a real reason to book it ahead of time online (except if you don't want to carry much cash or foresee problems with your credit card while travelling). So there isn't much risk involved in trying it out. Even if you come here and for some reason do not like it at Agama, there are many other Yoga studios and offerings geared to "yoga tourists" like healthy/vegan/vegetarian restaurants, mantra singing, workshops, etc. that will make you feel very much at home. At least I did.

No words to describe how amazing it was!

You have to be there to understand how life changing it is!
