Anya Atmosphere and Action

I absolutely love classes at Studio Anya. The studio is like a calming oasis floating on an eight floor cloud above the busy chaotic Manhattan streets.

As soon as I step off the elevator I feel a sense of ease and the generous receptionists always offer me a cup of tea as I wait for class. It feels very luxurious and yet down to earth. The studio is decorated with a beautiful zen-like quality that feels like luxury and simple pleasure all at once. Plus, the staff is very welcoming and kind.

As I've taken several classes at Anya I notice some common themes with their instructors; each one is knowledgeable and helpful, they use simple cues that are easy to follow and hands on corrections when needed. The teaching style really stands out as unique. Most Yoga classes I've taken elsewhere make me feel like I'm just trying to get into the correct position, to make the right shape. But at Anya I feel layers of experience in each pose that keep it from feeling static. Often the instructors quiz students during class to find a "pull of length" and a "push of strength" while maintaining a pose. By following the careful cues my poses feel alive and vibrant, unlike at other studios where I feel I'm statically holding a shape while praying to move on to the next.

Overall, I would say what separates Studio Anya from other studios is that you are invited to experience and enliven your body in creative ways that other methods don't use.
I am absolutely thrilled that I found Studio Anya and I highly recommend others try it out too!
