Our Hatha Yoga class is a basic level hour and a half session.
It is individually modified for personally integrated instruction. This class is accessible to those with little yoga background, as well as those who wish to deepen their practice through personal guidance.
Stretch, relax, refine, rejuvenate, & meditate. During this class you will energize the body's meridian system, lengthen and strengthen your muscles, and nurture your body and mind with a series of floor postures held passively for several minutes, utilizing props such as bolsters and blankets, with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. A meditative approach cultivates awareness of inner silence, and brings to light a universal interconnection of the mind, body, and soul.
Achy back? Give yoga a go. Multiple studies have shown the power of the ancient practice, which emphasizes stretching, strength, and flexibility, to relieve back soreness. In fact, several studies have found that yoga can even trump usual care for back pain when it comes to improving back function.
People who took yoga or stretching classes are twice as likely to cut back on pain medications for their back aches as people who managed symptoms on their own, according to a study published in the journal Archives of Internal Medicine.
A guided experience which will include warm ups, postures and breathing techniques to give students of all levels step by step instruction for each skill. There will be opportunities for students to learn and clarify details, add new postures to their repertoire and become more confident in their practice. Emphasis will be on body awareness, alignment and coordination of breath and movement with hands on assisting as needed.
This class is a great jumping off point to explore other yoga class styles and levels.
