Blue Sky Yoga

Blue Sky is an absolutely amazing place! When I first visited the studio I hadn't practiced yoga seriously in many years. I was worried about embarrassing myself or feeling judged for my fitness (or lack thereof). I needn't have worried because Blue Sky is a totally judgment-free place.
Angie Miller, the owner and one of the teachers, often reminds students that "we don't compete, we only support." Angie, and every teacher at the studio, is talented, patient, kind and works to ensure that new students feel welcomed and comfortable.
The studio offers a wide variety of classes at times that fit most every schedule. Although my favorite class is Sunrise Yoga at 5:45 AM on Tuesday and Thursdays, I've experienced most every other class and teacher - they are all wonderful! Every teacher offers a variety of options so everyone, from a beginner to an advanced practitioner, can gain benefit from the poses. My practice has truly blossomed under the guidance of Blue Sky's teachers.
Although yoga is my favorite activity, I've also found that kickboxing is a fantastic way to gain strength and cardiovascular endurance. It took me a long while to gain the courage to try a class but once I did, I was hooked! The classes are high energy and just like in the yoga classes, teachers help to guide newcomers and offer options for every fitness level. Students are always encouraged to set their own pace and goals. You will sweat...and love every minute of it!
Besides yoga and kickboxing, Blue Sky offers workshops and community events. My kids loved the family yoga; it was a fun way to spend time together. I've attended several First Friday events - they are a great way to get in a workout and then socialize with friends.
Angie and her team of talented teachers have created a wonderful community where people of all ages and abilities can enjoy yoga together. Blue Sky is fantastic!
Full disclosure: I have a membership to a gym where I also take yoga - with 20+ other people who race into the room to find a spot.
But BLUE SKY STUDIO is "my studio" where the instructors know clients by name and people make room for you so we can all take a cleansing breath together.
The studio offers kickboxing (where you kick and punch a real bag as opposed to air boxing), yoga, and a variety of special classes and seminars. As far as I know, it is the only studio that offers a weekly karma class - completely free to anyone in the community to walk in and grab a clean mat. It's not pretentious. It's not a secret club. You don't have to have a mat or boxing gloves - equipment and props are available to use for free. You don't have to speak yogi to come in and take a free first class of your option. Pass packages can be shared within the family, which is so important to those of us on budgets!
If you've been thinking about trying yoga or getting back into an exercise routine, please check out Blue Sky!
Great place to work out with your hubby! They have couples nights that are a blast! Instead of going on a date nite we go to Blue Sky and sweat!
Blue Sky Studio in Libertyville is the first place that made me feel like part of a family. The teachers know your name and make an effort to help each student improve their mind, body, and soul. I have learned a ton about yoga and have improved my body and mind 8 billion percent. Not a studio like it anywhere. Love it!!
