Alissa began practicing yoga regularly after attending a Yoga Journal conference in celebration of her 50th birthday over 15 years ago!
Suffering from chronic low back & shoulder pain, as well as TMJ, she found that through the consistent practice of yoga her symptoms diminished and over time, eventually disappeared.
Wanting to share her joy and experience with others, she embarked on a journey of healing & restoration. This culminated in earning certifications to teach SKANDA,(Power Vinyasa) YOGAWORKS , (Alignment based using Yin, Iyengar, Hatha combo) & earned her 500 hour certification in Gentle Therapeutics Yoga. This lead her to become a Yoga Therapist with IAYTcertification
In all of these styles, yoga is both a transformational & inspirational practice. Mid-life has taught Alissa that with practice and patience all will come. You do not need to have a “FLEXY-BENDY” body in order to begin.
Alisa graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri with a BA & Masters in Early Childhood Education as well as Art History.
As a lifelong student, she earned REIKI I, 2 and Master Certifications.
"Alissa is an amazing yoga instructor. She integrates her heart and soul into every class as she guides you through. Each class is a new experience and I would highly recommend attending her classes so that you can have the opportunity to be a part of something great." Patricia B.
"Being a student in Alissa Stein's yoga classes has expanded my
knowledge, enjoyment and benefit of the practice. Her warm, sweet and caring manner helps guide each class, and all the while she kindly reminds everyone to modify positions when they need to. Her personal attention and hands-on adjustments make her classes all the more special. Alissa's care, concern and knowledge are ever-present in each class. It is an honor and privilege to be one of her students." Blanche W.
