Great place to learn Thai massage

I very much enjoyed studying the practitioner level of Thai yoga Massage with Valentina and the other teachers. They were all kind, patient and very helpful to me whenever I didn't understand something or needed help. I'd highly recommend this course to anyone interested in studying Thai massage in Australia

Quality Traditional Thai Massage School

Thank you to Valentina for putting together and offering this first class course in Traditional Thai Massage. I did the intensive three week full practitioner version and that's what I'm reviewing. While the course is full on, it has been designed very cleverly, and this design prevents it from becoming overwhelming.

No doubt teaching massage involves practical based training, but to successfully understand and emulate the practice requires good pedagogy or ability to package information in such a way that it easy unfolds in our mind and sinks in naturally. I've done many natural medicine based courses, and can see that Valentina has put a lot of effort and good thought into her course design, to firstly, make a budding practitioner understand what it means to touch, e.g. the different types of touch, and how touch with presence, purpose and intention, which are so important as a bodywork therapist. Secondly, through the almost daily yoga classes that we attended with Uschi our trainer, before the massage training, we got to understand what yoga is, how it changes our body and what the yoga poses are that we must actually put our clients into. We also learned through Peter, our body movement instructor, how to properly focus and balance our energy by becoming aware of our core and spine, which are key ingredients in giving a client a quality massage. By starting with this fundamental foundation, everything that follows in the course becomes easy to digest and pick up. Each day was divided into bite sized manageable portions, with plenty of breaks and time to relax. We were able to watch Valentina in action, plus feel her instruction when we volunteered as a 'body', and then received close attention and correction while doing it ourselves in pairs. The first two weeks take you through Levels I-II-III, with the final week giving you time to focus solely on practice, as well as trouble shoot in case you don't get, or haven't fully grasped something. This last week of practice is critical and makes all the difference. The final day is an exam where you get to practice on a total stranger and receive impartial feedback, something that gives you confidence to take the next step, which is to continue practising and offer TTM to the public. From start to finish, this course is excellent, and opens your mind to the concept of dynamic medicine, which Traditional Thai Massage is. Valentina is the perfect instructor: welcoming, friendly, direct, funny, strict, knowledgeable and experienced. She knows what she's talking about, and she has collected a group of talented instructors in body movement and yoga, who are keen to impart their own experiences and knowledge about the human body and its healing capacity. Thank you to all of them for an eye opening three weeks.

Best of all!

Learning Thai Yoga Massage with Valentina has been a very precious adventure in my life.

I started with the Basic course with Valentina. It was just great and already equipped me with a powerful complete full body massage sequence I could practice. That course being so fascinating made me hungry for more. I was desperate to do the Practitioner’s level of Thai massage and last week I completed my three- week amazing journey with Valentina. If the basic course was absolutely thrilling, the Practitioner’s course appeared to be beyond my expectations. It opened for me new dimensions of massage techniques.
I’d wished for a perfect teacher to teach me Thai massage. And by perfect teacher I meant someone skilful, knowledgeable, meticulous and diligent but most of all inspirational. I was lucky to find Valentina who is an embodiment of a perfect teacher. She creates learning space that is supportive, free of judgement or competition. There is o much to learn within a relatively short period of time both practical and theoretical, but the way Valentina organises her course makes it all possible. I don’t believe I could find a better place to learn Thai Massage. I will be back for advanced practice for sure. Valentina’s passion is contagious. I can’t recommend her enough.
The course prices are very reasonable and give the student enough skills and knowledge to deliver high quality Thai Massage treatments with confidence and passion.
Thank you, Valentina!

Best Thai Yoga Massage Course

For anyone serious about learning Thai yoga massage. This is possibly one of the best places to begin your training. Based in Hong Kong , I had the choice of one of the many schools in Thailand or Valentina’s Byron Thai yoga massage school in Australia’sByron Bay and I decided on Valentina’s based on the rave reviews from alumni and choosing to go to Valentina’s was one of the best decisions I’ve made.

I recently completed the 3 week intensive Course and have throughly enjoyed my time training with Valentina and my amazing course mates. Valentina has devised a very detailed and well rounded course with yoga classes and movement classes to supplement our training/practice. She’s a very experienced , open and nurturing teacher, constantly correcting, watching and listening to us to make sure we were executing the right techniques on clients and that we as bodyworkers were practicing in a way that feels good, safe, sustainable and efficient.

The 3 week intensive course was a very fulfilling and nourishing experience and Valentina has inspired me to learn more about Thai yoga massage. I came off the course a little more confident, more aware of my own physicality/body and fitness level. A well taught Thai Yoga Massage set in beautiful Byron Bay. HIGHLY recommended * .

Such an amazing learning experience!

I had waited so long to do this intensive, that I was a little worried that it wouldn't stand up to the anticipation I'd built up. How wrong I was.

Valentina's Thai Yoga Massage course was so much more than I expected. It was intense, challenging, rewarding, empowering, deep and fulfilling. Not to mention the huge amount of work received during the course, which I've found really energising and healing.

The yoga at the start of each day was a deep experience as well. I have newfound love for yoga practice and I am going to incorporate more of it in my daily routine.

Valentina is a passionate, precise, joyful teacher, and her knowledge of the various techniques is awe inspiring. I can't wait to get back to work and spread the love for Thai Yoga Massage to my clients! I'm sure they'll love it as much as I do. Thank you! I want to come back and do it again already!

Learning the art of Thai yoga massage

If you're interested in learning the art and science of Thai massage with a fantastic teacher in a beautiful setting, I'd recommend Valentina's course at Byron Thai Massage.

Valentina's passion, knowledge, experience and professionalism shines through. The days are well structured, and the evenings are free to soak up the magic of Byron Bay.

Over three weeks you'll learn the front, side and back positions and craft a sequence that will give you the confidence to deliver Thai massage safely and with skill. There's a lot to learn and all of it is fascinating but the more effort you put in, the more you'll get out of it.

Put a little extra into your fitness before starting and approach the course with an open mind to get the most out of this amazing experience and you'll be inspired to share the gift of Thai massage with everyone!

Thai Yoga Massage Training

Valentina is an excellent teacher of Thai Yoga Massage and I want to say thank you for your time..
I highly recommend this course to those who want to learn the correct techniques of Thai Yoga Massage.

I really benefited from Inyengar Yoga which we did every morning before our massages as it helped me be more aware of my posture and body mechanics. We also learnt the importance of touch and using our core muscles correctly and many other important lessons.

I really respect the work that Valentina has done in creating such a wonderful course and I admire her dedication and passion to help her students achieve their best. Meridians are so interesting and powerful and I love the way Valentina massages, its something very ''Special'' that I wanted to copy exactly her posture, pressure, thumb angles, body weight and the fluidity.

All the people in the group were so much fun and sweet, everybody helped each other.
The different hosts invited us over for dinners and they are more than happy for students to practice on them anytime.
I was grateful to stay near the school and was lent a bike to ride, which was only 2 streets away. Byron is such a beautiful place, the beaches are perfect and the food is so nice.

I look forward to practicing this ancient healing system :)

I have just finished the 3 week Intensive with Valentina and I am so happy I chose to study with her. Valentina has put some much of her heart and soul into this course- It really shines through. She wants YOU to be the best that you can be and her direct, thorough, and hands on approach ensures you get the most out of this course.

Having been to Chiang Mai and experienced a short course in Thai Massage which was honestly quiet vague and light on...., I can confidently say that Valentina offers the best training you will have the opportunity to receive in the amount of time given.

With her many years experience she has developed a course that covers all bases when it comes to learning styles- We had a great workbook comprising of images, detailed notes and explanations, a DVD with examples of the sequences, Live demonstrations every day with the opportunity to take more notes and discuss various aspects of each movement/therapeutic and a solid amount of time to practice our techniques EVERY day on real and varied bodies. The feedback received from Valentina and each of the people you practice on daily (other students) is so valuable and will lend much insight into your approach to massage.

I also really enjoyed the classes given by the two other teachers Valentina involves in the course. Yoga every morning with such an amazing, adaptable, and knowledgeable teacher was such a blessing and I really felt like my body was respected, healed, yet challenged everyday.. I feel so much better for it! There is also another teacher who teaches various aspects of Body Awareness and Quality of touch... Reeeaaaally great stuff which will help solidify less tangible aspects of massage...taught in a very fun and playful way.

Byron Bay and the surrounds are beautiful! Valentina's studio is perfect! And I walked away with not only a recognised training that I can put straight to use, but with the blessing of meeting so many great like minded people (fellow students and teachers!) that I cant wait to see again in the future. Big love to you all! xx

Highly recommend the 3 week thai massage intensive!

I am so glad I chose Valentina's course for thai massage training. My course ended up only being 4 people - which was great for us because we had so much attention and hand's on corrections and explanations. Valentina will work with you until you get every pose/technique correct!

In the 3 week intensive you will learn about 4 hours of material of arm and leg meridians, back, side, sitting and prone massage. Valentina cares deeply about her students being able to have the correct posture and exerting the correct direction of pressure onto the client.

After the 3 weeks, I feel confident in practicing on friends and family with my manual present, and hopefully soon gathering clients! With iyengar yoga every morning, and a contact - improv teacher once a week, our bodies were cared for and looked after during this physically demanding course.

Valentina has a lot to offer - insight and her own personal tips/alterations from the traditional thai massage she was taught in Chiang Mai over 15 years ago. Highly recommend this school to anyone who is serious about learning thai massage - no fluff here!

A great Thai Yoga Massage course!!

This is a great 3 week training intensive. Valentina is a highly experienced knowledgable and passionate. She provides a great learning experience, on many levels. The content of the course is full of specific detail with careful guidance and support on how to provide a good massage to the client, but also keep your body safe. The learning environment is supportive, with good quality and clean mats etc., space for relaxation in breaks and a kitchen to prepare meals. The yoga teachers were well skilled and these classes were highlight supportive and complementary to the course each day.

First class thai yoga massage training in Byron

The three week intensive course at Byron Thai Massage School went far beyond my expectations! The course covers a truly astounding amount of material in a well-paced, clear manner that allows plenty of time to both practice and receive massage each day. Valentina has a true skill in clearly demonstrating and explaining the techniques, movements and sequences; she is always available for questions and her pointers and clarifications during practice time were greatly valued.

I also really appreciated her dedication to finding safe ways for each, individual practitioner to deliver the movements so as to reduce strain on their own bodies. Valentina's care as a teacher really shines through in her ever-present attention to detail on every level!

Class sizes are small enough for each student to get one-on-one attention; the studio space is also a beautiful learning environment; and Byron Bay and surroundings are also stunning. The daily schedule felt spot-on - enough time to digest things, and enough time for practice and breaks. The third week of intensive practice time was also a vital chance to consolidate the enormous amount of material covered in the first two weeks. And the chance to offer a full two-hour massage to an 'external' client at the end of the course was a confidence-building way to finish! (I feel well-equipped to go out and immediately start offering massages.)

I was also amazed and delighted to feel the difference in my own body as a result of three weeks of regular 'giving and receiving' of thai yoga massage. Although the course is physically intense, I found it very rewarding in this regard.

All-in-all, I feel like I have received world-class training in thai yoga massage, from a teacher with great passion and care for the practice. Thank you Valentina!

Wonderful content from a gifted teacher

I really enjoyed the course and found the content fascinating and well presented. There is a lot to learn on this course and at first I was wondering how I would learn it all. But the method of teaching Valentina has developed is highly effective. The days are split into watching and learning new sequences, and putting into practice what we learn. There is so much variety and "doing' to keep engaged and enthusiastic every day.

The manual Valentina has develped is very thorough was invaluable to me, as someone who is terrible at making (readable) notes.

Valentina's teaching style was ideal for me. She is passionate and direct, yet patient and understanding. She clearly has a lot of experience teaching complete beginners and had helpful advice for evevry potential stumbling block and situation. I found her communication style to be completely clear and logical and I loved how open to feedback and new ideas she is. Our group felt like a little family and we had a lot of laughter and fun. I sometimes had work issues I had to attend to and Valentina was very flexible and understanding when I had to slip out of a class.

The setting of the school was very comfortable, and we had full use of a kitchen and very nice facilities. All of us felt very welcome and at home. the area is great- beaches nearby, all the conveniences you need and a great cafe at the end of the road. I highly recommend Valentina and the Byron Bay Thai massage school- you are assured of high quality tuition from a very experienced practitioner, and most probably a lot of laughter and new friends.
