The real deal

In a world of flavor-of-the-week yoga where gimmicks are emphasized over tradition and purpose, Dharma yoga stands above the rest. Dharma himself, and the other amazing teachers, keep the true heart of yoga beating. The studio itself (called the Dharma temple) is huge; I've been in a class there with well over 100 students and never felt cramped. The classes have heart, humor, and remember the real reason yoga was developed and has survived all these many centuries. When I go to New York Dharma's studio is my home.

Dharma Mittra is a true yogi, a master teacher--old school, many well known, branded teachers studied with him back in the day 90's & earlier. He is humble and truly very spiritual. I personally can feel his energy in the way one feels a Guru's presence. He is quite elderly now, even when I studied with him. But you leave his class on a high, and feeling the presence of God (which he does talk about in his classes.) His class while very physical when I would take it-was also very grounded in Yogic philosophy. He always would bring it back to the spiritual not just a exercise by any means. I highly recommend him (and I"m a yoga teacher of 19 years myself.)
