We are located in the Franklinton Arts and Innovation District. We are one of the few studios in the Country offering Urban Zen.
Inspired by fashion designer Donna Karan and developed by Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman Yee, Urban Zen Integrative Therapy will lead you through practices that include gentle movements, restorative yoga poses, aromatherapy, Reiki, breath awareness and guided meditation. In a world of over-stimulation and over-work, these practices can offer you a grounding, relaxing sanctuary.
This class is appropriate for everyone, whether you are recovering from an illness or injury or simply in need of tender loving care. (No yoga experience is necessary.)
Our instructor- Reiki Master Barbara Ellen Held
Barbara Ellen had her introduction to “energy” in 2005 during a massage, but it wasn’t until she began a yoga practice in 2007 that she found Reiki. For the first time in her life she felt grounded, centered and peaceful. She became a devoted Reiki Master in 2009 and a Reiki Master Teacher in 2010. Barbara incorporates Reiki into every aspect of her life, using Reiki with her hands, eyes, thoughts, breath and heart. She begins her morning by sending it to all in need of healing and pauses throughout the day to send to people and creatures around her or in her thoughts. Her Reiki practice is enriched through her regular practice of meditation and contemplation.
In 2001, Barbara Ellen left a corporate job to help care for her mother who was battling cancer. Her job included teaching a variety of skills using various techniques and training methods. Today, that love of teaching is applied to teaching Reiki. She is both honored and filled with gratitude to teach Reiki Level I and II at Yoga on High and thanks the Reiki Masters who introduced her to the gift of Reiki. Her wish is to continue the Reiki tradition by introducing others to the open-hearted, pure bliss of giving and receiving Reiki.
