Wonderful experience

I have completed 200 hours yoga teacher training with Rishicul yogshala December 2015 in beautiful Varkala, Kerala. I must say it was an amazing time and a fantastic experience. Off course you are coming to India so certain things are much different then what you know but after a while you will actually appreciate it for its unique ways, so chill out and enjoy. I recommend having no preconceptions and just going with it. You might learn something new about yourself, you never know.

The course itself is well put together. Teachers are excellent and opened to share all they know about the subject and always responding, if there is a need of improvement. It is a great introduction to yoga but also for already practising a nice push to deepen ones practise. Ayurveda is an added bonus and complements the yogic lifestyle very well. You can learn many things that will enhance your health and make you more Intune with yourself. The atmosphere of the course has a lot to do with people that come together and I have been really lucky. We had a ball. I will always remember them- because they are never off the Face book 

Very good

Rishikul Yogshala is very good yoga school with perfect yogic environment and peaceful atmosphere. It is an excellent organizer and the teachers hold excellent yoga knowledge and skills. Our instructor, Gangesha ji is one of the best teachers. He is very good yoga philosopher and keep motivated us to learn yoga.
The staff is good and the accommodate and food is very good. My experience was great.

an opening of the mind, body, spirit and heart.

My experiences doing the course were very varied due to the diversity in the individual teachers, their wisdom, knowledge and personal touch. It has opened and strengthened my mind, body and spirit deeply. I feel inspired, fuller in my understanding of how and what i am to be doing in my life, who i truly are at a deeper level. On a practical level the school provided excellent, private and comfortable accomodation, delicious food three times a day and the kindness and care given by all staff was amazing. I totally recommend doing a teacher training here at such a beautiful location in Rishikesh.

I am so happy to have completed my teacher training here at Rishikul Yogshala, the beautiful and peaceful surroundings were the perfect setting. All the staff and teachers were so kind and helpful it really feels like home. They cant do enough for you. The course was very authentic, heavily focusing on the tradition of yoga with much philosophy and varied techniques to try, they are on hand with advice and help for personal issues relating to diet or health etc at any time of day or night. Each teacher has a completely different character but all share the passion for spiritual growth and Yoga. During the month i had a thorough transformation and genuinely feel more confident as a practitioner and soon to be teacher!

300hr YTT September 2013

I absolutely loved my experience at RYP! I was looking for a 300 hour training that would be offered as an intensive. I had a limited budget and I was really curious about the origins of the practice. This training fit all my requirements an totally exceeded my expectations. The facilitators & teachers were so accommodating. The curriculum was already so full and engaging but if we wanted to learn something more they were more than happy to make time in their busy days to teach us.

If you want to be a Yoga teacher you are doing yourself a great service to go to India to study. There is so much we don't understand about the practice in the west. India taught me a lot about myself in addition to gaining great insights about the practice. You just have to go!

not impressed - they just rent rooms anywhere

I visited the rishikul yogshala in both Rishikesh and in Pokhara, Nepal. I was not impressed with the one in Rishikesh as it wasn't a beautiful place and like a double bedroom for the yoga studio. The person who picked me up to show me the place drove SO fast on his bike but slowed down when I asked him to , on the way there, on the way back after I did not give 1400 dollars he drove much much faster back, my impression was that its simply a money venture.

more

worse was in Pokhara, Nepal though, it was simply some rooms rented in a really busy place at a hotel where there were lots of other guests but at least there was a fair sized room for yoga. There was construction of buildings on both sides of this hotels and it was loud and noisy, not a shanti environment one would find condusive to learning. The students seemed very unhappy with all, disorganized and felt it was done just for money., not the real deal! there are better places with nice environments where rooms / buildings are not simply rented for financial gain.

The gift that keeps on giving

The Yoga teacher training's held by Rishikul Yogshala have everything you need to become a competent Yoga teacher, to deepen your own practice and understanding of Yoga and so very much more!

The teachers and staff are all great and the breadth of subjects offered as part of the course allows you to explore many aspect of Yoga - Asanas (postures), Philosophy, Pranayama, Mantra, Anatomy as it applys to adjusting the body for correct postures, Teaching methodology and Meditation.

more

I loved this course and grew in mind, body and spirit. The Asana classes were particularly extraordinary with master Vipin Baloni putting us through our paces (but his wicked sense of humour was never far away). He had such absolute faith in our ability to expand beyond our minds perceived restrictions, that were were able to go further, again and again.

One of the biggest gifts for me of this course was being reminded of this fact. Almost any restriction your have physically can be overcome with belief and persistence; having an amazing teacher that also knows exactly what to teach to get your body strong, fit and flexible in record time, is also a big help.

Vipins understanding of the mechanics of postural alignment and how to verbally and physically adjust is also brilliant, so I have come away feeling competent that I have the tools and understanding required to become competent in this area.

The course I attended was held in Varkala Kerela, which is a very shanti (peaceful) part of India (however peaceful for India doesn't always mean quiet, India is big and bold and bright and beautiful :)). Varkala is right near the ocean with sea eagles and many other creatures around. The only problem with this was the temptation for some students to go to the beach instead of class. The food was superb and I enjoyed the chant we did before each meal to bless the food (something I still use).

The accommodation was basic but all you needed was provided for with a smile and if you needed anything extra all you had to do was ask.

As this course was located in Kerela, there was also quite a large component of Ayurveda incorporated in the curriculum, some of this was very interesting and helpful and I especially enjoyed the cooking classes and finding out about your different Doshas (constitutions), but some of the time could have been better spent focusing on aspects of Yoga or more applicable, rather than theoretical, aspects of Ayurveda (it is my understanding they intent to modify this part of the course accordingly). That said, the way Ayurveda and Yoga weave together is not to be underestimated.

We were give a fantastic book durring the course, which I am only now 2 months on finding time to read, and it talks about practicing Yoga in the way that re-balances your doshas, something I would not have previously considered (which is very effective) and I have just ordered a Aryuvedic cook book as I found the food we ate was fantastic for my body (and palate). I would not have been making these sorts of exploration without the teachings on Ayurveda that we had at the YTT, so I am very grateful for this.

I left this course with a deeper sense of ease and consciousness in my being and a physically fit body. This time, with these students (we were a merry mix of Nationalities and Characters) and these teachers, will always have a very special place in my heart; they are part of my Yogic family now and if I ever do any more training, I will certainly do it with them! Thank you Rishikul Yogshala for deepening my love of Yoga and of life.

Life changing experience

There's one thing for certain, I'm not the same person I was 28 days ago before starting this yoga teacher training program. My life has been changed in the most beautiful and positive sense of the word. There really are not enough thank you's in the world to fully express the extreme gratitude I feel towards Rishikul Yogashala and its teachers for providing me with this opportunity. I am going to cherish this experience and my new yoga family for years to come.

Very special yoga school

I am taking some classes with the Rishikul Yogshala in Kerala at the moment. Their program extends beyond Rishikesh. I find them super friendly, approachable and welcoming. Their team is quite extensive hence every student is well looked after and attended too, I understand that in Rishikesh the teacher team is even bigger. As I am already doing a 2 year TTC with KYM in Chennai till 2017 I am focused on doing pranayama here in Varkala with Rishikul's pranayama master.

more

The school is conducting a yoga and ayurveda TTC (one of the few schools to offer such a training) and I became a part of the extended student group in a very kind and openhearted way, such is the practice and culture of this school. I feel very loved and grateful, such is my experience with Rishikul Yogshala and I highly recommend them.

Authentic Eastern Yoga Experience

It's hard to review a program that spans a month, but overall I would describe the Rishikul 200hr program in Nepal as challenging, life changing, and inspiring. The days were really long, but packed with so much new information that I was never bored. I really connected with each of the six instructors and cannot thank them enough for the impact they had and will continue to have in my life. If you're looking for a truly eastern yoga experience, Rishikul is the school for you.

more

I went into this program with no expectations and graduated a truly satisfied student. Besides the wonderful instruction, I met sixteen amazing fellow students with whom I shared many hard yet happy times with. I love my yoga family and I have a feeling we'll see each other quite often over the years. I would be happy to answer any specific questions about the program and you can read more about my experience and see photos on www.liveseasoned.com. A word of advice: If you read a poor review, look at how that individual reviewed other businesses to get a feel for their individual attitude. Don't let a few negative reviews sway your opinion of this truly authentic and remarkable experience, I'm glad I didn't :)

Amazing experience

Attending Rishikul Yogshala was one of the most enriching experiences I have ever had. I would highly recommend this program for anyone seeking personal growth and a strong foundation of knowledge in all branches of yoga. I cannot say enough great things about the teachers at rishikul. They will teach you much more than the physical aspect of yoga. I attended the September 2015 program in Nepal and loved it. I felt very safe in the town of lakeside and hotel tulsi staff were stellar.

more

Please understand the implications of traveling to a non-westernized country. The food, culture, surroundings, and beliefs are different. Don't join the program expecting a western experience, you will not get that, which is the beauty of it all.
Attending Rishikul was one of the best decisions I have ever made

Amazing dip into the world of yoga in Pokhara

Hari Om !!

Thanks to my sister who did the full course in July in Rishikesh, I’ve had the priviledge of attending for 2 weeks the 200 hrs classes taught by Rishikul Yogshala in Pokhara, Nepal and it really is a shame that I couldn't stay for 2 more weeks to complete the whole course... I didn't expect at all to soak so much both the lifestyle and philosophy of yoga even when my sister had warned me that the course was really intense... Everything the teachers transmit around the world of yoga is incredible: they are like open books accessible at all times; even after their classes, they are always there to help you with any questions you might have ... From hatha and ashtanga yoga classes with Vipin to Pranayama and meditation classes with Tyagaraj as well as philosophy and anatomy classes with Gangesh and mantra and yoga Nidra classes with Deepa and Kavita they are all worthwhile ...
Whether you are a beginner or a regular yoga practitioner, wanting to train as a yoga teacher or just fancying a dip in the world of yoga, do not hesitate to sign for any of the courses by Rishikul Yogshala, whether it is in Pokhara or any of their other places in India...

Foundation of yoga

I highly recommend Rishikul Yogshala to everyone practicing all levels of yoga.
I attended the 200 hour TTC July 2015 and I still glow every time I think about my experience.

more

The curriculum is just amazing and well designed. The course is very intense and it covers deeply lots of subject. The day starts at 5.30 in the morning with Hatha classes, followed by pranayama and mantra or yoga nidra. After breakfast, there are yoga philosophy classes followed by anatomy classes. After lunch, adjustment and alignment classes are really interesting and important (to be able to know how to correct your own asanas and your future students' too). I was also able to deepen my practice in ashtanga day by day as each posture is taught one by one. And after ashtanga the day finishes with meditation at 18:00. So a very intense day covering all kind of yoga aspects to give you a better understanding of yoga.
Teachers are outstanding, extremely professional and enthusiastic, you can't get enough of their wisdom.
I learned important lessons about yoga and the yogic life and the course gave me a solid foundation to continue exploring and expanding my knowledge in yoga. I had a wonderful experience at Rishikul yogshala. The school met all my expectations and in some cases were exceeded.
And the food is delicious organic vegetarian food from the Himalayas.
Don't miss this amazing experience!!

Lack of Integrity with keeping their word and their promises

I was disappointed in everything except the cooking staff who were marvelous and very friendly. The yoga teachers with the exception of Prashant were egotistical and arrogant and put the students down continuously which was very disempowering. The place was very noisy and you could hear everything that went on at night. The curriculum was very disorganized and we never knew what we'd be studying from day to day.

more

I don't believe the teachers actually got through all the curriculum because there was no continuity with the teachers in terms of who taught what from day to day. They seemed to do whawith a lack of t they needed to do in their personal lives with very little interest in whether the curriculum was completed. The students ended up managing themselves.. it was disappointing. The wifi seldom worked and when it did it was very slow. We were promised ayurvedic and laughter yoga training and got none and had only 2 - 3 meditation classes. The environment wasn't conducive to transformation as there was no one to speak to about personal issues and the students were basically on their own.

A home away from home.

Rishikul yogshala has been an overall great experience. Starting with warm welcome from the entire staff ,each one of them being genuinely involved with the growth of the students. Extremely knowledgeable and making sure the students practically understand what we learned ,especially in the form of theory and Asana practice. My deepest gratitude to all the teachers of Rishikul ,who made this journey a very uplifting experience. This place is highly recommended to anyone who wants to take on a journey of total transformation inside out and provide themselves with the best teacher training facility.

My experience at Risikul Yogshala was wonderful.

My experience at Risikul Yogshala was wonderful.

more

The teachers were focused, patient and extremely knowledgeable. I was looking for a program that would not only teach asanas, but would share the wisdom of Yoga as a philosophy and help me to gain understanding of that lifestyle and grow spiritually as well as physically. Risikul Yogshala was a perfect fit as they are truly dedicated to sharing what Yog is. Master Vippin is an incredible Ashtanga Vinyasa and Hatha instructor and gave me much more mind, body and breath awareness. When the course was completed I was also able to attain alignment and postures that I hadn’t been able to do before. Gangesh, Tuna, Vivik - thanks to all of these teachers I now have a stronger understanding of yoga philosophy, anatomy, pranayama, and meditation techniques.
Rishikesh itself is very special place. Surrounded by the Himalayan Mountains with the Holy Ganga steps away from where ever you are - I had such gratitude to be in such a sacred part of India. There are great spots to shop and explore which are short walks from the Yogshala. Relaxed and safe atmospheres filled with friendly and helpful people. They also offered off days and took us to visit temples, waterfalls, caves and ashrams to experience Rishikesh and the surrounding areas.
The Yogshala itself and amenities were perfect. My room here was spacious, comfortable and exceeded expectations. I also enjoyed the location as it is set a few steps back from the main street which makes it a quiet sanctuary. Food was tasty, healthy, and plentiful.
All of the people at Risikul Yogshala were lovely and were so welcoming. Each one of my teachers as well as the other staff were kind, treating us like family. They went out of their way to help in any way we needed and gave us the opportunity to understand their culture here. The respect in which they treat each other, elders, and the students was truly heartwarming and something I will take back with me to ensure I am more conscious of how all people and walks of life should be treated.
I truly enjoyed my time here and feel confident that with the tools they have provided I can return home and share what I have learned. I will definitely be back to continue my studies here and visit this beautiful place filled with people I consider friends and lifelong teachers.
