I love Shanti Yoga! I had a hard time choosing some of these answers because I find that Shanti is both Neighborly AND hip, easy going and organized. All of the yoga teachers are friendly and welcoming, and extremely helpful when you need help adjusting position. The room is lovely and cozy and I don't feel cramped there as with other yoga places. Over all I am extremely pleased with Shanti Yoga and I have recommended the studio to many friends -

Lovely People, Great Studio!

For me, this place is perfect. Not too small, not too big, nothing in the extreme. Perfectly balanced ambiance and humility. The people there are always full of so much peacefulness...

Shanti = Peace

The name says it all. Not only does Shanti mean "peace" in Sanskrit, it also perfectly sums up the feeling of the studio. Everyone feels welcome. The space is bright yet cozy with it's candles, twinkling lights, beautiful exposed brick and tons of natural sunlight. The instructors are amazing and the classes that I attend always have a wonderful balance of friendly people from all age groups and genders. There is truly a class for everyone with the wide range of offerings from gentle to advanced. Plus, there are always fun workshops and community events being offered in the space so I check the website often. I love Shanti Yoga!

"Exactly what I needed"

My experience with Shanti Yoga has been great! I accompanied a friend to a meditation followed by a Kirtan and I was immediately impressed by Katie and her studio. I had been searching for a studio to evolve within my practise and I'm happy to say that I have found it!! I've attended many classes over the last month or so, and it's apparent that Katie had a vision when she set out in creating Shanti Yoga.

more

Her studio has a unique eco-friendly design that radiates a warm and inviting atmosphere. Katie has captured the very essence of her vision and what Shanti Yoga is all about. There is a focus on cultivating mindful yogic awareness through the union of our body, mind, heart, and spirit. The collective wisdom of the yogis is evident in the execution of their passionate teaching. I found the instructors to be professional, kind, approachable, and compassionate, which I consider to be key characteristics in creating loyal friends/patrons. Furthermore, I believe the abundance of friendly smiling faces to be testament that the organizations success stems from the deep roots in the community. Whether your a yogi or just starting your practise, the practitioners offer classes to accomodate all levels, as well as unique events and workshops. I would highly recommend Shanti Yoga to anyone seeking a place of peace to evolve within a healthy and balanced lifestyle!

Just the best little place

I enjoy the people and the place, but could do without the mountain of stairs at the entrance. The classes are varied and often. Overall a great experience.

My New Yoga Home

Shanti has become my yoga home. Quite simply, this place attracts good people. Owner Katie Kelly is warm and friendly and clearly has an exemplary personal yoga practice. I find the teachers competent, helpful and kind. I'm probably a "level 2" yogi at this point and I find many of the classes challenging (in a good way). I've been to many classes that had both newcomers and seasoned yogis in attendance.

(I love we can all be inspired by the classmates who can press into beautiful, stable headstands with seeming ease. What a joy to see!) The class descriptions on Shanti's website can help a new student choose the best classes to get started with.
The students tend to be in their mid 20's to mid-30's but everyone is welcome. My fellow Shanti yogis are very likable people. Not a lot of pretension or "cutest yoga outfit" contests going on here. I think Shanti attracts people who really want to learn and grow. I've made a lot of friends among the students and teachers.
The studio is nicely decorated and creates a serene atmosphere for practice. Prices are very fair and I find that the monthly auto-renew plan is totally worth the money. My mind, body and spirit thank me for the investment every day!
See you at Shanti!

Amazing studio, unfortunately pricey

I purchased the new student 30 for $30 deal, allowing me unlimited classes for one month. I absolutely loved my time at Shanti Yoga, and genuinely looked forward to class every day. Due to my work schedule I could only go 3-4 times a week, however I would have happily gone every day if I could! The teachers are lovely, knowledgeable and mellow; the classes range widely from meditative to highly active.

I loved the workout I got from the classes and felt my body getting stronger after only a few weeks. It was an extremely cathartic experience. Unfortunately my month is up and I can no longer afford the price tag of $100-$120 per month to match what I was doing before, but I would highly recommend this studio to those who have the ability to pay that much per month. I am sad to leave, but grateful for my positive experience.

There's A Cheaper Option!

Dear Anonmyous,

There is an option to purchase a membership at the discounted rate of $75/month. It auto-renews from your bank account every month and only requires a 3 month minimum commitment. The price of $100-120/month is only if you purchase that option one month at a time. The price of $75/month for unlimited yoga as a member is actually the cheaptest option in the city of St. Louis! I hope this changes your mind and would love to see you again.

Namaste,
Shanti Yoga

New favorite =)

I knew as soon as I set foot in this quaint little studio that I'd found my new home. All of the instructors are fabulous. The space is perfect. It's warm, welcoming and inviting. Guys, it even SMELLS good in there. It's the only yoga studio I've ever been to that has genuinely kept me coming back for more. If you're intimidated or even a little scared to dive right into a new yoga practice, come here.

Great space, teachers and workout

I am new to yoga and have lots of arthritis. I was a little intimidated before going because I have no expertise and my core strength was embarrassingly diminished. From the very first time I attended a class, I felt comfortable and like I wasn't being judged or singled out in any way because of my age - I am 65 - or my lack of experience. I only judged myself. There is an atmosphere of peace and friendliness in the room that pulls the students in and adds to the peaceful and loving practice of yoga.

home sweet home.

Shanti Yoga has planted its roots in a loving neighborhood and really harvested a great community. The teachers are knowledgeable and personable, and they create a welcoming environment for new students and experienced yogis alike. They are easy to approach with questions, requests, feedbacks and great conversation. The space is beautiful and humble. Many of the supplies were upcycled to be mindful of the environmental impact, which gives it a unique charm.

The studio gets lots of naturally light, keeping both the plants and practitioners happy and healthy! New students get a great deal, 30 days for $30. There is a wide variety of classes offered, from hatha to Bhakti flow to kundalini to guided meditation (and everything in between!) There is definitely something for every-body!

Hearty welcome

Shanti Yoga, in downtown Maplewood, welcomes all to their 2nd floor studio. It is a pleasure to support local business, the classes are convenient time-wise and parking has always been a snap.

Love Shanti!

I've only been to (2) classes at Shanti thus far but I will continue to go there. It's close to home for me and it's a very welcoming environment. I love the coziness and humbleness to it. It's like a perfectly hidden little gem. Oh, and the instructors have been awesome ~ all of them :)

Katie has made me feel completely comfortable and has helped to improve my practice so much. When I landed in her studio I really struggled but after a few sessions I was getting into and now I hate to miss a class!
