Yoga Classes
All of our classes have a mindful base and explore the deeper, meditative dimension of Yoga. Our teachers are well practiced, well trained, and dedicated to sharing yoga with you in this spirit.
Meditation Classes
-Meditation Sitting Group: Offered as ongoing support for people who already have established a basic mindfulness meditation practice. Rather than teaching, the class will primarily be for formal practice. There will be 45 to 60 minutes of lightly guided seated, supine, or walking meditation. A portion of every session will be for mindful speaking, listening, and Q & A.
-Yoga Nidra: A special lying down yoga meditation which systematically relaxes the body and cools the mind. Practice will include gentle warms ups, some sitting meditation, and brief teachings on the Yoga tradition.
-Silent Sitting Meditation: A dedicated space and time to practice meditation together with no instruction. With Our Compliments if you are attending the Sunday Yoga class.
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program MBSR
Mindfulness literally means heart-mind. Being mindful implies the integration of direct experience and conscious awareness.
When we are Mindful, what we are sensing, feeling, and thinking comes together in a new and empowering way.
With mindfulness training, we are better able to self-regulate the nervous system, shift unconscious patterns, and make intentional choices that profoundly aide our health and well-being.
Mindfulness has emerged as a trainable skill with measurable clinical efficacy. This is due in large part to the pioneering work of John Kabat-Zinn and colleagues at Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. The cornerstone of their work is the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program. MBSR teaches mindfulness as a practical mind & body skill that promotes our own inner resources. The positive results for individuals who undertake this training are well documented and far reaching.
