The word "Vinyasa" means “breath-synchronized movement."
In this class, we will be moving with the breath to open and strengthen the body. We will start by linking the inhales and exhales with simple stretches and work towards completing the Sun Salutation sequence. We will hold some of the postures for several breaths as we work on alignment and endurance.
Come prepared to move, breathe and have fun! Everyone is welcome to join this series.
Mindful movement has an emphasis on being present in the moment as that is the very center of reality where everything happens; where all of the "magic" of life happens!
This class is for both beginners and practicing yogis who want to bring more awareness into their movement.
The intent is teach students how to embrace a healthy, balanced and safe practice for THEIR OWN BODIES. When we can create a mindful and non-competitive environment within ourselves, we can take our practice to a deeper level.
This class invites all-levels who want to fine-tune and learn tools that they can incorporate into their existing practice. We believe that it is important for each student to enjoy their expression of each pose and accept what he or she is able to bring to the mat each day. An ideal class for those new to yoga, however all levels are welcome!
Yin is a practice that is quiet and meditative. It focuses on creating better movement in the major joints, spine, and connective tissues. A Yin class is not an active, flow-based, or Yang (active, energetic, heating) yoga class. The goal of Yin (receptive, passive, cooling, and meditative) is to take the shape of an asana, find a sustainable hold, and then settle into that pose while being guided through meditations and breath. Students will find stillness in postures on the floor, holding for 1-5 minutes per pose. Safety and correct alignment will be our focus, while allowing for multiple levels of healing, introspection, and active relaxation. All levels are welcome and encouraged to help balance our culture’s drive for constant activity. We’ll rarely come to stand and sometimes embody just a handful of asanas per class, but students will engage with sensation in new ways, and this can be challenging and revelatory. We’ll use props and modifications, and end in a deeply meditative relaxation. See yourself as you are and give in to Yin!
Patanjali’s Sutra III:29–– “Concentrated attention on the primordial navel centre brings understanding of all bodily systems.”
Graceful Flow from Mobile Core. This is a practice that focuses on strengthening through a series of hip openers, standing poses and some supported inversions. There is a deep focus on refining alignment and cultivating a fluid core to bring focus on strengthening in the lower and upper body. The standing poses are often done at the wall for support, balance, agility, and refinement of awareness, breath and movement which when combined creates fluidity. The sequence has a monthly focus and consistency allowing the practitioner to experience repetition of the asana's and the principles being focused on. Modifications are always offered. There is exploration of Breathwork and Pranayama ~ to awaken and direct prana. The class culminates in stillness and silence. Deep Release and Steady Mind.
TriYoga Flows (Prasara), a complete hatha yoga method, is the union of posture, breath and focus - or asana, pranayama and mudra. TriYoga fundamentals include relaxation-in-action, wave-like spinal movements and economy of motion. With the systematic approach, students can remain with Basics or progress to subsequent levels. Within each level, students increase their knowledge of posture and flow, as well as strength, flexibility, endurance and breath control. Through sustained awareness on all aspects of the practice, the movement of body, breath and mudra harmonize and the inner flow naturally emerges. The breath becomes even and rhythmical, the mind focused and calm. This naturally creates a harmonious inner state, the firm foundation of meditation. Triyoga Classes focus on the TriYoga flows and conclude with deep relaxation, rhytmic breathing, concentration and meditation. Each part is integral to the practice. Each Level Corresponds to the Chakra System. Level 1 Earth, Level 2 Water and so on. Within each level there are "versions." Level 1 series 1 is Earth/Earth. Level 1 Series 2 is Earth/Water and so on. Level 2 Series 1 is Water/Earth. Each Version has a season. Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. All designed for a balanced practice.
Founded by internationally acclaimed yogini Kali Ray, TriYoga is the art and science of yogaflow. In TriYoga Flows there is unification of posture, breath and focus. TriYoga fundamentals include relaxation-in- action, wavelike spinal movements and economy of motion. Restorative flow is a slow flow practice intended to provide a nurturing and rejuvenating experience - bringing body, mind and spirit into balance. Gentle warm-ups and slow flowing movements paired with the breath will prepare and open the body to receive the benefits of the restorative postures. We'll then settle into some longer held passive poses with the body completely supported by props to facilitate deep release in the connective tissues and a sense of calm in the nervous system. Deeply relaxing and transformative, this class will leave you feeling refreshed and renewed
