An alignment-focused class where we slowly explore postures and transitions with emphasis on the breath. We go through and hold a variety of postures, including more challenging ones, in order to build stamina and strength, or to develop flexibility in the body, and to calm the mind.
In this class you will be guided through breath-synchronised movements (vinyasas), following a step-by-step approach, beginning with simple basic movements and progressing into more complex flowing segments before returning to stillness and ending in Savasana. This practice activates dormant energies, and leaves you feeling stronger, recharged and more grounded.
Ashtanga is a dynamic form of yoga that tones and strengthens the body by working on the same series of postures, carefully combining each breath with movement in the vinyasa count. In this class we explore the Primary Series, the foundational series of the system, working on breath synchronisation, sequence memorisation, and the moving meditation that constitutes the core of the practice.
