Dr. Abha Gupta is a certified yoga therapist who has been teaching yoga therapy classes at Hampton Roads in Virginia for more than 12 years. She has been trained in yoga therapy in the USA by Dr. Dilip Sarkar, the past president of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She has also received training in yoga and Ayurveda at Rishikesh, S-VYASA University, Bangalore, India, and in the USA. Dr. Gupta is a Professor of Education at Old Dominion University, where she has served on the university faculty for the last 25 years. She has conducted research on the impact of therapeutic breathing techniques and mindful breathing intervention on the behavior and academic performance of elementary school children and the writing apprehension of college students. Dr. Gupta has presented this research at multiple international conferences as well as published it in peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Gupta also serves as the editor of the YogaSetu newsletter, which has subscribers both in the USA and abroad. Dr. Gupta was invited to speak at the First International Yoga Day in Lisbon, Portugal. She has been a regular presenter at various Yoga Therapy Retreats in the USA.
