Alexandra Oudheusden is a second year, PhD student and Graduate Research Assistant at Clemson University in the Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management department. Her PhD concentration is in Recreational Therapy with a research focus on the clinical use of yoga with physical conditions. She has a Master of Science in Recreation and Leisure Studies with a concentration in Therapeutic Recreation from Southern Connecticut State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Theater Performance from Pennsylvania State University. She has been a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification since 2007.

Alexandra’s yoga teaching journey began with Yoga for Multiple Sclerosis (Adaptive Yoga) Training with Karen O’Donnell Clarke in 2008. In 2009, she completed the Therapeutic Yoga Teaching Training led by Cheri Clampett, E-RYT and Arturo Peal at the Integral Yoga Institute in NYC. In 2010, she completed a Yoga Alliance approved 200-hour Integrative Yoga Therapy teacher training with Julia Hough.

Alexandra pursues continuing education through regular participation in conferences, trainings, webinars, research, and yoga practice.
She maintains professional memberships in the American Therapeutic Recreation Association, International Association of Yoga Therapists, Yoga Teacher’s Alliance in Westchester, NY, and the national Yoga Alliance. She feels blessed daily by her loving husband and delightful son. Her personal motto is to live in the light, follow your personal path, and embody the spirit you wish to see in the world.
