Founder and Educator of We RISE (Recover Inspired Self Empowerment) Yoga: Alexis Wisniewski grew up in Boulder, Colorado. She spent 14 years of her young adult life addicted to drugs and alcohol. The healing process took a very long time, but she found that her best medicine was Yoga. She was able to connect with her body and brain in a new way which helped her to develop a solid new foundation upon which mindfulness and meditation became the key. She found that the strength she gained through her Yoga practice, along with a new way of thinking, and renewed sense of well-being was a new calling; she was meant to share and teach Yoga with the rest of the world.
Alexis founded We RISE Yoga on the premise that through movement, thought, and mindful meditation, individuals can learn to heal themselves from within. Individuals would be able to take that healing and share it with the rest of the world. She also believes in teaching this form of healing and peace to the masses.
Alexis is certified E-RYT 200 through Yoga Alliance & YACEP(Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider). She is certified in Pre-Natal Yoga, and Trauma-Recovery Yoga (TRY). She has taught for many local and state agencies in Las Vegas; The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, The Clark County Detention Center for Officers and Administrative Staff, and The Clark County Coroner’s Office. In addition to teaching at three Las Vegas based Yoga studios, she currently teaches at a drug and alcohol recovery center, a behavioral health center, and for a leading provider of mental health support groups. Alexis has a background in forensics and has completed a 104 -hour Academy Course with the Clark County Coroner’s Office, which included how to comfort and aid people who have been through significant recent trauma, and or a death of a loved one.
She currently lectures across the country on the healing powers of Yoga, and the long-term benefits of consistent practice on the brain and body. Alexis is known for her powerful practice, intuitive understanding of the body, and her creative and engaging teaching style; her classes are accessible to all. Over the years she has realized that Yoga is more than just asana, and has witnessed the power, magic, and benefits of a consistent practice both on and off the mat.
