Allowah (aka, Alan) has been a student of philosophy and world spirituality since his early teens, and a Yoga student for the past 20 years. He holds a BA and an MA (in Philosophy and Liberal Arts) from the University of Pennsylvania, and from 1997-2001 did post-graduate work in Kabbalah and Yoga at New York University. He is registered as an eRYT 200 through Yoga Alliance, and also earned a 300-hour certification through Dr. David Frawley’s American Institute of Vedic Studies.
In addition to his formal training, Allowah has studied Yoga with other teachers in India and the , including Sri Karunamayi, David Swenson, Sri Anandi Ma, Ganga White, Tracey Rich, and Dharma Mittra. For the past 15 years, Allowah has taught Yoga full-time in Philadelphia, PA and more recently, Naples, FL, where he first opened the Sunshine State Yoga Academy in 2006, now re-incorporated on Maui as “Yoga University.” As a 200-Hr Yoga Alliance registered school, Yoga University trains and certifies those desiring to teach yoga as a profession, as well as to promote and raise awareness about Yoga and its rich heritage.
Allowah has come to view his work as facilitate a safe space for deep inner work to take place, work which will ultimately lead to the Divine Source where all is One and there is only Perfect Love. Through this profound connection with Source, we learn to embody this Love ever more so moment to moment until we live totally without judgment, offering only compassion, forgiveness, and unconditional love and understanding to all without exception.
