One week after moving to NYC in 1986, Barbara met Sharon Gannon and David Life at the Life Café in the East Village, and soon began her formal study of yoga there. While serving as Creative Director at Arnell Bickford Advertising and Design Associates and Conde Nast Publications, she intensified her yoga sadhana with Sharon at the original Jivamukti Yoga. In 1994, Barbara traveled to India to attend the Sivananda Teacher Training Course, the two week Sadhana Intensive, and the South Indian Temple Pilgrimage. After completing Teacher Training at Jivamukti in 1996, Barbara began her conscious withdrawal from the advertising world. She eventually moved to Woodstock, and in 2012 shifted and consolidated all of her classes to Woodstock Yoga Center. In 2013, she became a Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor-Intro II Level. She continues to travel to India regularly for six-week courses of study with the Iyengar family at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute.
