I took my first hatha yoga class in 1975 and fell in love with yoga on the spot. I found yoga to be solace and sanctuary, an opening to the self. That initial foray into Sivananda yoga was the first step on a journey that continues today. I received certification from the Devaki Academy in 1977 and taught yoga for seven years, until 1984. Later, after my son was older, I continued training with YogaWorks at both the 200-hour and the 500-hour levels, and I received certification from YogaBuddies for children's yoga as well. My combined yoga teaching experience spans 13 years. Whereas my initial yoga training was in Sivananda Yoga, my YogaWorks training combined the traditions of Iyengar, Ashtanga, and Viniyoga, a unique hatha yoga blend. Since then, I have also received the certification of ERYT-500, Experience Registered Yoga Teacher, with the Yoga Alliance. I continue with my education today, having taken supplemental training in Restorative Yoga and numerous workshops as well. I have been lucky enough to study with the incredibly talented Chad Hamrin, who continues as my teacher and mentor, Scott Hobbs, Lisa Walford, Jasmine Lieb, and Jillian Pransky, and I am grateful for the foundation I have been given in alignment, the connective flow of breath and movement, and the transformative power of yoga. I teach all of my classes in that same tradition, tailoring instruction to the level of the students and to the type of the class, whether it is vinyasa, general hatha blend, restorative, or therapeutic. Sharing yoga with others – regardless of their level of ability, health, or age – is a joy and an honor for me.
