As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate and Registered Yoga Teacher, Becca combines clinical therapeutic methods with mindful yoga techniques to create a space for deep emotional, physical and spiritual healing for her students. Becca is the Owner/Founder of Soulful Mountain Yoga and Co-Founder of Yoga for Trauma. Originally from Arkansas, Becca moved to Asheville in 2011 and completed her 200-hour yoga training at the Asheville Yoga Center. Since then, she has taught more than 1,000 hours and has received E-RYT200 designation from Yoga Alliance. Becca has been practicing yoga for 10 years and she has been able to witness firsthand her process of growth and self-exploration through these practices. She also offers Equine Assisted Psychotherapy at Horse Sense of the Carolinas in Marshall, NC to individuals and small groups.
Becca teaches a breath-centered practice using mindful techniques that can be applied in our daily lives. She often includes “Brain Games” and other principles from her Yoga for Trauma program into the Restorative class. Her class is intended to help us develop the skills to become the true witness to our mental and emotional processes that occur all the time, so that we can make a more conscious choice about the way we truly want to live.
Becca’s background includes receiving her Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Social Work, as well as completing a 230-hour Yoga Teacher Training Program, a 9-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction training, and two 10-day Vipassana Meditation courses. Becca currently offers Outpatient Therapy and Yoga Therapy to individuals and families, runs Yoga for Trauma training programs nationally, and is on the Board of Directors for Heart of Horse Sense, a local Non-Profit offering Equine Assisted Therapy to veterans and at-risk youth.
