My journey began with Jeffrey Cohen as my guide. Shortly after my first Jivamukti Yoga® class, I found out I was pregnant, and would become a mother. I was unwed, in an unstable relationship, with no college degree and I was scared out of my mind. To say yoga found me when I was lost, scared, and alone is an understatement. I was up a river, without a paddle, in a canoe, heading straight for a waterfall, and you known what? I fell. Fortunately, I landed face first on my mat. As a mother I have learned all things come with time. One must first plant the seed, nourish it, love it, and sing to it, so it will grow. While my life lay in shambles, and a new life depending on me, I decided enough was enough. From that moment on the real work began. I practiced as much as possible and was blessed to become of service to my teachers, Jeffrey Cohen and Andrea Boyd and the community of Jivamukti Yoga Charleston. As my practice evolves I have encountered some beautiful and some hairy things. It isn't always easy, but I continue to resist the urge to fall back into old patterns, and my life continues to grow to new heights.
