Benita (BJ) Wolfe Galvan

Benita is as an internationally renowned Anusara yoga teacher-trainer with 20+ years and thousands of hours experience teaching Anusara yoga teacher trainings, festivals, and other events. She emphasizes joy, therapeutic alignment and balanced action in her classes. The embodiment of her Celtic ancestry, life experience and her playful passion for yoga inspire in her students a revelatory transformation attuned to the Rhythm of the Sky, Earth and Soul. Benita has three grown sons and five grandchildren. Currently she resides in the West of Ireland, enjoying life, land and teaching.

Benita, affectionately known as BJ and Beej, is a world renown Certified Anusara Yoga Instructor, founder of Heart Core® Yoga, Handstands Anonymous™ and one of the visionary co-founders of the Anusara School of Hatha Yoga founded in 2012 and currently is a co-principle in The Celtic School of Yoga in Ireland.

With multiple thousands of hours teaching Anusara trainings, decades of teaching experience and a lifetime of wisdom studies, she is considered a ‘teacher of teachers’. Benita is deeply honored to have been integral in introducing Anusara yoga in Latin America and to have been able to share her expertise globally as an inspirational and playful expression of Anusara yoga. Benita is grateful to have had the opportunity to travel the globe apprenticing and assisting master yoga teacher, founder of the Anusara yoga method, John Friend when he was associated with Anusara yoga. She studied Sri Vidya Auspicious Wisdom tantric philosophy with Dr. Douglas Brooks for 10 years as well as with several other well known and loved Tantric scholars and wisdom teachers.

Benita continues to be a student of yoga, wisdom and nature based modalities and continues her studies and practices with the finest teachers, scholars and healers in the world.

She has accrued thousands of hours of teaching mostly immersions and teacher training which she loves and it shows through her palpably contagious enthusiasm.

Heart Core® Yoga, “Anusara Yoga by Benita J. Galvan”, has been a Yoga Alliance RYT-200 hr school since 2009. All hours with Benita qualify for both Yoga Alliance and Anusara School of Hatha Yoga licensing.
Professional Background, mainstream life BY (Before Yoga)
• Professional ‘Mom’ to three boys, now amazing grown men; Sage Ma (Grandma) to two more boys and three little girls, team mom, coached soccer and with all the momly duties. She was once a fully certified personal trainer and fitness class instructor for 15+ years. Fluent in Spanish, Beej co-owned an antique store that was in “Phoenix Best” for 3 years in a row, she served on the local school board 4 years that built the 1st Green school in the country, served on her neighborhood association board 4 years, co-founded a day worker center for local migrant population, participated in town envisioning projects, coordinated the outfitting of the interior of a hotel in Mexico, administrated the design, building, leasing and management of commercial property for five years. Benita is a Reiki Master, Certified HypnoBirthing® Practitioner and has been studying other natural healing modalities and metaphysical arts since 1975…four + decades!… time flies when you’re in love with life!
