My yoga journey began after studying Thai massage. In my first class we practiced yoga to warm up for doing the massage work and I realized that my body needed to keep practicing yoga. I started taking classes with a teacher from the Kripalu tradition and then from an Iyengar teacher. I decided I wanted to take my practice deeper and to prepare to teach yoga, so I completed the 200 hr level training with the Sivananda Vedanta Centre. I chose this training because it involved living at an ashram for a month and being immersed in the full practice of yoga - mediation, pranayama, devotional chant and asana. Soon after completing this training, I discovered vinyasa flow and took classes from a gifted teacher who taught this style of yoga. My continuing education courses have included therapeutic yoga, prison yoga, sequencing, chair yoga, and anatomy of fascial lines. When I'm not teaching or practicing yoga, my favorite activities are cycling, hiking, swimming, XC skiing, paddle boarding and sailing. If I'm indoors, I'm probably reading books about yoga and spirituality or cooking.
