Brenda's yoga journey began in 1993 at Yoga in the Mad River Valley, Waitsfield, Vermont with extraordinary teachers Mary Flemming, Nancy Spencer and Jyoti Hansa. After relocating to Boston in 1998, Brenda completed a two year teacher training course in 2000 at the BKS Iyengar Yoga Center in Somerville. She continued her studies by assisting her teacher, Peentz Dubble and studying with Patricia Walden until 2009. Brenda's teaching is very much influenced by these esteemed and highly respected Iyengar teachers.
Brenda has been registered with the National Yoga Alliance since 2004 and became a certified Introductory II Iyengar teacher in 2007. Brenda continues her yoga education and studies with teachers of all styles and traditions including Iyengar, Astanga, Yin and Vinyasa. Brenda taught for over 13 years at the Clubs at Charles River Park at Mass General Hospital teaching all level classes, chair yoga for Mass General Hospital Senior Healthwise and private classes. She taught undergraduates, grad students and staff at Tufts University, Medford for over 5 years.
Brenda teaches from the premise that each student comes to the mat as an individual and that each student should practice at their own level without judgment or competition. Her classes are appropriately challenging, nuturing, introspective and fun.
