Carrie Torres, the creator of Practice Joy! started her yoga practice 15 years ago to cope with a stressful real estate management career and New York City lifestyle. She took a leap of faith in 2012 to attend the infamous 10 week Bikram Method training in Los Angeles. She used her certification as a license to travel the world.

"When you want something all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it."

She took her first teaching assignment in East Africa and continued traveling, teaching and practicing for three years around the world.

She has broadened her teaching abilities by becoming certified in Vinyasa Ashtanga.

A committed student, she practices and studies the benefits of Yin yoga, Kundalini yoga, Iyengar yoga, Restorative yoga and Bhakti yoga.

"Exploring different traditions and diversifying your practice is a beautiful opportunity to expand your creative freedom". No matter where has travelled and with whom she has taught there is one binding sentiment-It is our responsibility to share the benefits of healing we learn with others.

Carrie's advice to students is simply Practice. We need more people like you in the world - to spread the love, to spread the peace, to spread the joy!

New Orleans is the one city that has stopped her in her tracks with its creative spirit of kindness and desire for healing. In NOLA, Carrie has discovered a community pursuing a life/work balance with fervor. She presents Practice Joy! to give a warm and nurturing space for community wellness. Carrie loves to demystify the healing benefits of yoga in her humorous way. We must be able to laugh at ourselves. "To fall is human, to get back up makes the yogi". Carrie is now offering daily private classes for beginners and seasoned seekers alike. Her classes are private and small offering the perfect environment for individual attention and meaningful instruction.
