Carson Efird, MFA, E-RYT 500, RPYT, is a dancing yogini living in Raleigh, NC where she serves as Yoga Program Director for EVOLVE Movement. In 2013 she earned her MFA in Dance from UCLAʼs Department of World Arts and Cultures/Dance where she taught yoga for the Department while researching the points of intersection between dance and theater. As a collaborative choreographer, Carson’s interdisciplinary inquiry cultivates new dance theater works that integrate the holistic practice of yoga as a rehearsal ritual for performers.
An enthusiastic student and teacher of Prana Flow, Carson is inspired by evolutionary Vinyasa, post-modern release techniques, improvisation, abstract expressionism, Tantra, Ayurveda and her teacher, Shiva Rea, creatress of Prana Vinyasa. Since completing her Prana Flow certification in 2009, she joyfully serves as an assistant and mentor in Shiva’s Samudra: Global School for Living Yoga. Carson directs affiliate Prana Vinyasa Flow Yoga Teacher Trainings for EVOLVE Movement in Raleigh and UCLA Summer Institutes in Los Angeles, CA.
Carson began meandering down the yoga path when she was sixteen to compliment to her modern dance training. In 2005, she completed an ISHTA Yoga Teacher Training with Alan Finger in New York as well as her initial Prenatal yoga certification. After freelance yoga teaching for a year between Vermont and North Carolina, the opportunity emerged for Carson to open YogAsana South in Raleigh, which later developed into EVOLVE Yoga, and then, EVOLVE Movement.
