Cat's practice and teaching has been influenced by everything from Ashtanga and Iyengar, to yin yoga and mindfulness. An E-RYT with Yoga Alliance, her teaching balances respect for yoga tradition with a scientific understanding of anatomy and biomechanics to keep students safe, and educate them on how to make the practice work for their body. Her dharma is to help ground people into their body and create space to let the teachings of yoga unfold from there.

Cat's approach weaves together a focus on foundations, mindfulness, playfulness and highlights the ways this physical practice translates off the mat. Expect to journey through a carefully crafted sequence designed to create warmth, space, and balance in the body, mind, and heart.

On social media, she shares her practice journey and her popular #overachieversguidetoyoga posts are devoted to breaking down foundational poses in a clear way so anyone can approach them in their practice. She is a natural teacher grateful for the opportunity to lead others on this journey and eager to share what she's learned.

When she is not teaching yoga or preparing to teach yoga, Cat is spending time with her little boy in San Diego. She enjoys getting into nature, reading, dancing, and spending quality time with loved ones.

Solid instruction

Cat is a solid, knowledgeable yoga instructor. She very safety and foundation building oriented, so her students are in great hands as they learn at whatever level they are working at. Because of her knowledge she is able to modify for injuries/limitations and also make recommendations for ways to accelerate progress. She is equally able to meet me on the mat as she is a newbie, and I have been practicing for 20 years!

Cat is one of the best. She puts together flows that are mindful, fun and centered around your breath. She is sensitive to injuries and offers a myriad of modifications. I trust her! And she is such a genuine person who truly cares for her students.

A breath of fresh spirit and gentle soul

Catherine's teaching style is definitely one of my favorites! She welcomes each new student with a warm smile, and gets the class pumped with a variety of poses that constantly change with each class session. She's always attentive to any needed assistance or modifications to help students feel the pose fully and at the level the student is at. She offers different levels of options in poses, and gives clear explanation of the poses. She's fun loving, warm, and shows passion in her teachings. I love her variety in music playlists too, always something fun and new, soothing, or spiritually calming. I definitely recommend her to anyone, whether new or currently practicing yoga.

Between Bikram and 'actual' yoga, I've had approximately six yoga teachers in my life. Only Catherine has been able to keep my attention through an entire class, be simultaneously challenging to experienced yogis and inviting to first-timers, maintain a continuous-yet-personable class, and stress student safety in a respectful, spiritual manner.

Catherine guides a fun class that is rooted in a true love for yoga and all of its benefits: physical, spiritual, and mental. Not to disparage other teachers and their styles, but I prefer how Catherine's class is relaxed -- not to the point of distracting chatter! -- and still pushes me from start to finish.

Whether you're looking for a good workout, a peaceful break from life, or a shared introspection, I highly recommend Catherine's classes.

Catherine's class made me fall in love with Yoga

I decided to practice yoga because it is the type of workout I enjoy the most but once I took Catherine's class for the first time I realized how the way she was sharing her practice with us also brought so much peace to my life, and when you are a mother of two young boys peace is not something you take for granted! I have been Catherine's student for a little over a year now and I can definitely say without a doubt she is an amazing teacher who cares deeply about her students, she is able to work with you so you can benefit from the practice in every aspect, my body and my mind are in much better shape since I started attending Catherine's class.
