Cathy Benson

Cathy Benson has been passionate about fitness since she was a young gymnast and dancer. With over twenty years of experience in the role of Executive Director for non-profit health organizations, such as the American Diabetes Association, The Arthritis Foundations and Canine Companions For Independence she has had a passion for making an impact in the health arena her entire life. Cathy also has over ten years experience in teaching group fitness classes ranging from Cardio Kick Boxing to Gentle Yoga. She has completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training with Yoga Master Edely Wallace at Yogamatrix Studio in 2015, and will complete her 500 hours in the fall of 2017. Cathy is also trained in Hatha Yoga, Lymphatic Yoga®, and Yin Yoga.

Cathy started her personal practice of yoga and meditation in the 1990s while going through a divorce, struggling to manage chronic fibromyalgia and suddenly finding herself being a single mom with a very demanding career. Through this yoga practice she was able to foster deeper relaxation, and a true sense of calm during some of the most difficult times of her life. Additionally,she was able to get off all of her pain medications and truly understood the mind, body and spirit connection. Cathy approaches her teaching with a calm sense of playfulness that is designed to inspire people of all shapes,sizes and abilities. Cathy is an avid animal lover and one of her favorite classes to teach is her specially designed class with her therapy dog O'Neil. Cathy believes that yoga reminds us that everything and everyone are connected and when we come from that place of love and connectedness, we can create a better world, one class at a time.
