I started practicing yoga in 1998 and took my first Yoga Teacher Training course in 2004 at the Sethsanda Vedanta Yoga Institute. Since then I have been teaching yoga to both local and international students. I have also established good working relationships with other teachers around the world.

Great teacher

I have done yoga teacher training with Rukshan in January 2019 and it was great. He is very experienced and has a lot to teach because he knows many different kind of practice. It's much more practical side but you will have also to learn theory by yourself Wich I think is good because you remember more.
So if you want an authentic teaching don't hesitate you won't regret it !

Great teacher a special yoga experience

I had the pleasure to follow some lessons with Chanaka. He has a real great knowledge and high spiritual energy, you can feel it. His way to teach is special, always with a smile he gives the beautiful chance to learn and undertstand something new and different each time to advanced students as to beginners. He is building a lovely place just close to the temple, which will be dedicated only to yoga, and i hope to visit soon and follow more lessons with him.

Wonderful Experience

Chanaka is a great and authentic teacher who begins his two hour long lessons with Bakti yoga, walking around the Buddhist stupa. His lessons are a great mix of asanas, chanting, pranayama and mudras. I felt that I was learning something new each day at his classes which were varied and fun. Chanaka takes great care of any special needs of his students and his classes are as beneficial for advanced students as they are for beginners. For me, I felt it a great honour to practise yoga in a Buddhist temple with such a devout and dedicated yogi.

Experienced Teacher with concern for student's needs

For two weeks I joined the Yoga classes of Rukshan on Hill top Temple in Mirissa, Sri Lanka - no day was the same. He mixes different Styles of Yoga and combines them with spiritual elements like meditation and chanting. He shows concern for the student's needs as well as for the different levels within the class - is always friendly and open for questions. I felt wonderful after class and thanks to him I have now a deeper understanding of Yoga and feel encouraged to continue exercising back Home.
