Charlene teaches a variety of gentle programs for those that are less than athletic, injured or pre/postnatal. Her teachings can be found at Senior/Chair Yoga Programs can be found at a number of Senior Residences, dementia centers, Hospice, and a Psychiatric Institute. She also offers programs for pre/post natal, corporately, along with regular mat style and leads private lessons for therapeutics at her own studio in Keswick. She is the Community Producer & Host for own show on Rogers TV, airing 10 per week. Charlene the owner of TEN Yoga, that manages yoga teachers as she teaches full time throughout York Region.
Over the last 16years Charlene has tried a number of styles from Ashtanga to Iyengar, but she has spent the last 8 years -practicing Esther Myers method. This style focuses less on the completion of the poses and more on listening to what your body is able to do. Breathe work and grounding is important for the mind to focus and helps to release tensions in the body.
Charlene came to yoga after a car accident in 1996. Dealing with pain from whiplash, ribs out of alignment and a twisted pelvis. After 6 months of multiple weekly treatments from Chiropractic and Massage therapy, she still had not fully recovered. When insurance cut off funding for rehabilitation, it was suggested she try yoga. It was then that the next steps of recovery took place. Charlene learned about her body’s limitations, strengths, weaknesses, and the effects of the mind for overall well being and is committed to continue learning and teaching.
