Classically trained Raja yoga instructor, Christi A. Rutkowski, has been teaching yoga through-out the Lehigh Valley since December 2002. She was trained in the Himalayan Tradition (see the bottom of "Class Description" page for more on the Himalayan Tradition) by teachers who studied in India as well as with yoga master, Swami Rama of the Himalayas. She has taught over 7000 hours of yoga and studied extensively past her 200-hour training at the Himalayan Institute in Honesdale, Pa. In December 2009, Christi and her husband, Tom, traveled to spiritual centers in Southern India, which changed their lives forever! Their daughter, Mary Jane, was born in December 2010. Her birth has inspired Christi and Tom to open their own studio to share the joy of self-transformation and meditation with the community. Christi holds to the Himalayan Tradition's belief that each person has the ability to heal from all forms of pain and suffering through the yoga practices of meditation, relaxation, breathing, stretching and mindful living.
Christi is an adjunct professor of physical education at Lehigh Carbon Community College. She taught non-credit yoga classes at Cedar Crest College and Lehigh University for 8 years. Christi also taught yoga at Muhlenberg College for 5 years, for the East Penn School District Community Education program, Dynamix Dance Center, Kidspeace, and the Volunteers of America Children's Center and many other locations around PA.
In 2009, Christi received a certificate in spiritual healing and an inter-faith minister ordination from Divine Light Ministries. A level-4 Reiki Master Teacher and skilled in the art of crystal healing, Christi started giving body-work sessions out of Center Valley Chiropractic in May 2009, where she has also worked as an office assistant since 1996. Her intuitive healing abilities were honed during all her years teaching Raja Yoga and working for her mother, chiropractor Dr. Mary Rutkowski, so taking the step to spiritual healing was a natural transition. She sees about 8-10 clients per week at the studio, treating a wide variety of illnesses, injuries and stress-related pain and suffering using a various of eastern techniques (see the Bodywork page.) As a spiritual healer and ordained inter-faith minister, Christi is also available to custom create and preside over weddings. She is available for house blessings, funerals and other spiritual services.
Having 15 years of experience practicing yoga and working in her mother's chiropractic office, Christi developed a deep awareness of chronic pain and its negative affects on every aspect of life. Having suffered deeply in her youth because of unhealthy lifestyle choices and uncontrolled emotions, Christi found freedom from her pain through yoga, spirituality and self-healing. She now feels a strong purpose and desire to share how she learned to be happy and healthy through the self-transformational practices of holistic healing and traditional yoga!
