I have been practising yoga for fifteen years, initially studying with an Iyengar teacher. In 2005, I discovered the hatha yoga style taught by the Inner Yoga Trust (similar to the Scaravelli approach) and I trained with them as a yoga teacher. I have taught both children and adults in a variety of settings and would like to see yoga becoming part of mainstream education.
I am currently in the process of writing a Children's Module for the Inner Yoga Trust.
I am qualified in Pregnancy Yoga and Thai Yoga Massage and I am currently studying Yoga Therapy also with the Inner Yoga Trust.
I received my Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction/Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy training with Bangor University Teacher Training 7 day programme early in 2014 and will be doing my Level 2 Teacher Training with them in January 2015.
I enjoy all aspects of yoga, the philosophy, breathing practices, meditation, postures and Yoga Nidra and I use a variety of these aspects when working both in a group setting and on a one to one basis. I enjoy working with individuals assisting with specific health related issues where I believe that through becoming more aware of the alignment of body, the breath and through adapted, restful poses the body can begin to heal itself from pain, and disease that results from continued stress and strain.
I currently teach yoga, yoga therapy and practice Thai yoga massage in Bristol. I have also taught in Bali and at numerous festivals and community events. I currently works for Community Conscious providing low cost sessions for those who are more vulnerable. Through this connection I have been offering Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction sessions to Bristol’s 'Outreach' clients who are, or have been rough sleeping on the streets of Bristol. In addition I have delivered an adapted MBSR course (called Stress Busting for Happy Families) to vulnerable parents as a way of supporting them to reconnect with their children and other family members.
