I have had yoga in my life since I was a small child, my Mum studied to become a yoga teacher herself in the 1980s. I have always been interested in health and fitness and always incorporated yoga asana in my exercise regime, but became more interested in all aspects of yoga including the history and yogic philosophy after the birth of my first son in 2005. I took him to Mother and Baby yoga classes and began to fully understand all the benefits of yoga – not just the physical.
I then decided to train to become a yoga teacher just like my Mum! I trained with The British School of Yoga and qualified as a Hatha Yoga Instructor in 2007 – also completing a course in pre and post natal pregnancy yoga. I hold a certificate in Ashtanga Yoga and Children's Yoga Teaching as well as Yoga Therapy Level 3 and Advanced Teacher Training. I have also completed the Cosmic Kids Yoga Teacher Training. I continue to study and attend yoga workshops regularly. I have studied yoga functional anatomy for a year and completed an Edx Harvard anatomy course. I have recently completed another anatomy course run by Susi Hately as well as David Keil's anatomy course.
I teach 8-10 classes per week, mostly in churches although I do teach at DW Fitness, Brooklands twice a week as well as providing cover for other teachers. I teach 2 chair yoga classes per week in addition to my regular yoga classes. Chair yoga is ideal for anyone needing an adapted practice.
I did teach a Parent & Toddler class for 7 years (which is now no longer running) and I really believe that yoga can be for everyone. I also run 4 Saturday morning yoga workshops per year, with varying themes.
I continue my practice daily, and enjoy a wide variety of different styles, but my favourite classes to attend are the ones taught by my Mum!
