Clara’s Yoga journey began days after the events of 9/11 when she walked into a Yoga studio offering free classes to those searching for a healing space. The distinct separation of the chaos outside to the calm within those walls would forever change her and 12 years later filled with immense gratitude for her teachers and the varying styles of Yoga discovered along those years, she made the decision to leave America and a corporate retail career, travel to India and complete her 200hr Teacher Training in the Sivananda lineage at the Arhanta Yoga Ashram under the guidance of Yogi Ram. She has never looked back.
Clara has since also completed a 300hr in Hatha and Therapeutic Restorative Yoga with senior Iyengar teachers at the Kashmir Saivism School of Yoga in Dharmsala, India and is also trained in Restorative yoga by Judith and Lizzie Lasater. Clara has trained in Yin yoga by Sarah Powers and Bernie Clark and is currently a student of the 2023 cohort for the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training led by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. Clara is a dedicated Vipassana practitioner and believes deeply in the power of mindfulness and somatic movement. A student of Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen and the Feldenkrais method, Clara incorporates elements combined with functional movement and Kinstretch in her classes.
Clara also discovered her passion for the healing art of Thai Massage after completing an introductory Thai Massage course at Lotus Palm in Montreal, Canada in 2011 with Master Kam Thye Chow and Eleanor Piquet. The spark was ignited then and Clara now travles annually to study Traditional Thai Massage in Chiang Mai, the Thai Massage Mecca of Thailand with various Thai Masters. She is a Government certified affiliate teacher to TMC Thai Massage School of Chiang Mai and is passionate about sharing and teaching this healing art.
The beauty of Yoga and that of Thai Massage is that their histories and philosophies are intricately intertwined. Both work towards creating a free flow of Prana.
Clara’s treatments are highly intuitive and practiced with mindfulness, an open heart and are individually tailored to the receiver while her classes strive to be filled with heart and humour. We breathe, we relax, we release and we smile.
Having a deep admiration for the human body, its anatomy and the effects of stress, diet, nutrition and movement, Clara strongly believes the journey of change and growth is long and all encompassing and that Mind, Body and Spirit must work as one, and so each must be nurtured and united through a holistic approach. It is this ethos that has led her to gain certifications in FRC, Raw Food Diet and Nutrition, Detox Advisor as well as Lifestyle Coach and Mind Body Therapy.
