In 1994, curious about yoga, Collette took her very first class with Kripalu teacher Lila Ostermann, who was, at the time, 75 years young, and filled with generosity of spirit, deep grace and gentle wisdom. Classes with Lila provided Collette a tranquil oasis in the middle of her busy life as a mother of three. Over the years, inspired by Lila’s strength and groundedness, and eager to learn more, Collette continued to practice yoga guided by many wonderful teachers, including Sharon Smith-Carter and Suzanne Turnbull. To broaden and deepen her understanding of yoga, in 2012 Collette undertook The Inspired Life Flowyoga Teacher Training program with Maria Carr at the Port Perry Flowyoga Studio. She is currently registered with the Canadian Yoga Alliance as a RYT-200 Yoga Teacher and is a Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra Guide, as certified by Jennifer Reis, Senior Kripalu Teacher and Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra Trainer. In 2016, Collette completed Usui Reiki Master Level training with Daniele Hart of Heart Journey and she also was certified as a coach in Hanna Somatic exercise. Collette believes that the regular practice of meditation and yoga promotes health and well-being, calmness, personal growth and self-acceptance. Her classes are designed to be safe, inclusive, relaxing and fun.
Collette is a writer and community volunteer who loves to dig in her garden and go for walks on forest trails with her dog Marley.
"The joy and benefits of yoga are available for everyone. I hope to help others discover their own oasis of yoga".
