Cyndi Bulka, ERYT-500, has been practicing Yoga and meditation for more than 20 years, teaching as a profession for nearly 17, and has entertained a curiosity for contemplative practices her entire life. Her teaching reflects a combination of years of study and practice which culminate in an eclectic and individualized approach, focusing on organic movement and gentle unfolding from the 'inside-out'.

In recent years she has focused her continuing education in that direction. She currently teaches specialized workshops and courses that address structural issues of the body, anxiety, depression, insomnia and eating disorders.

Cyndi completed training at Duke University's Integrated Medicine Center as a Health Coach in 2013. She offers individual and group health coaching, specializing in healthy weight loss. She trained in Thailand and in the US in Thai Yoga Bodywork and offers sessions by appointment. For the last 10+ years, Cyndi has been leading yoga retreats both in the US and abroad.

My yoga home

I've been practicing yoga at Moving Mantra for over 10 years. The experience with Cyndi and the other teachers at the studio has really helped me understand how to live life fully grounded but with an expansive view.

Cyndi's focus, both on and off the mat, is to figure out how to make the teachings of yoga work for each individual. I have attended classes at other studios where students were taught to bend awkwardly into a pose that is beyond their reach; at Moving Mantra, the experience of understanding the fundamentals of how a pose is structured and what accommodations you can make for your body is the priority. The emphasis is on finding grace in your yoga by honoring yourself and your abilities.
I can't say enough good things about Cyndi and the studio. I feel very thankful to have found Moving Mantra. It is my yoga home. <3

I had the good fortune to be referred to Moving Mantra and Cyndi Bulka about a year and a half ago. It has been a life-altering experience. The teachers at Moving Mantra are experienced, gentle, caring and practice what they teach. The entire experience is focused on helping the student slow down in order to go inward and learn where they are - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually - at that precise moment in time and to honor themselves in that moment. It's a completely freeing experience.

Expect the best

Cyndi Bulka's Moving Mantra Yoga is the ideal yoga environment. Cyndi employs teachers who are as warm, caring, and safety-minded as she is. There is a palpable spiritual element in Cyndi's classes which leaves me feeling connected to All That Is, even if occasionally I end the class dishrag limp. She does expect us to do the best we can for where our bodies and minds are today, and I know I do better (safely) because of that expectation.

Having practiced at Moving Mantra Yoga Studio with Cyndi Bulka for more than 5 years, I can heartily recommend you join us! Cyndi is a skilled teacher, very knowledgeable about the small adjustments in one's body that really make the poses "work". She offers rather than directs, encourages an inward focus and individual adaptation of sequences. She presents a balanced practice, and polls the class at the beginning of each session to determine what individual needs are. She teaches breathing and meditation as well as asanas to develop a full and rounded practice--neither all spiritual nor all athletic.

Experienced, Gentle Teacher

I have been attending classes with Cyndi on and off for about 8 years. Cyndi is a very knowledgeable teacher who truly honors and works with the limitations of her students. She always stresses safety and teaches in a calm, non-judgmental manner. She teaches from the heart.

Thankful!

I have been practicing yoga for seven (7) years. In 2012 I found Cyndi and Moving Mantra Yoga Studio and for that I am so thankful!

It is difficult to put into words how much Cyndi's classes and workshops have helped me and how much they mean to me. Practicing under Cyndi's instruction, I can say that not only have I deepened my yoga practice and education of yoga philosophy, but that I have become a kinder, happier and more balanced person. Cyndi's classes help me to relieve my anxiety and tune inward so that I can quiet my thoughts and focus on my spirit. I leave Cyndi's classes with a refreshed body as well as a relaxed mind - that is such a blessing for me!

Cyndi is kind, thoughtful and extremely knowledgable. I am very thankful to be able to practice under her instruction.

One of my favorite teachers

I have been doing yoga for almost 14 years and Cyndi, by far, is one of my favorite teachers. My yoga practice has morphed into a lifestyle rather than just a practice since meeting her.
She has a huge heart which is apparent through her love of teaching. I have always felt comfortable learning from her and have been a regular student since my first class. She has a strong spiritual as well as therapeutic approach to yoga which I appreciate.

Poetry

When I think of taking a class with Cyndi, I think of reading poetry. Not only is the language she uses poetic, but the entire class flows like a poem. Her instruction is a yogic form of art. Her knowledge base is deep and broad. Her attention to detail is exquisite. Her understanding of yoga is evident with every class. She is truly a gifted and inspired teacher.

Cyndi at Moving Mantra is a true blessing

I have been a student of Yoga for only 8 years - I started when I was 40! When I moved to Raleigh I was looking for a studio that would help me deepen my practice, but wasn't solely focused on fitness as so many studios are. Moving Mantra was such a blessing, and Cyndi as an instructor made it even more special.

She takes extreme care in selecting her teacher/leaders and offers an array of Yoga opportunities from classes, to meditation to opportunities to deepen your relationship with the community. She lives the practice of Yoga. When you have evolved in your practice, you are encouraged to make the next step. You can explore many aspects of yoga as part of the Moving Mantra community. Cyndi is helpful, available, concerned and focused on your ability to evolve and develop through your practice and classes. I have been on retreats with Cyndi on several occasions and keep coming back for more. I encourage anyone looking to explore the principles of Yoga as part of your day to day living to seek out Cyndi and Moving Mantra.

I'm spoiled

Cyndi is such a great teacher it makes it hard for me to take classes under other instructors. Her approach is to challenge students while constantly reminding them that mindful practice is best, where we are attuned to the sensations in our bodies and the thoughts in our minds during practice, and to embrace them and use them to learn, stretch and grow. The other thing I love about Cyndi is that she is so knowledgeable about making practice adaptive for physical limitations. And she gives hands-on guidance to those who need it. She is off her mat as much as she is on it during class.

The BEST yoga teacher ever!

I have been practicing yoga since I was in middle school. I started practicing with Cyndi 15 years ago and I have learned a lot more about the true meaning of yoga, the philosophy as well as learning about my own body and honoring it. Cyndi has a depth and breadth of knowledge about yoga that she shares willing to help all. I always encourage the newcomers to yoga to take a class with Cyndi to learn the right way. Thanks Cyndi for guiding my practice.
