I have been practicing yoga for 14 years and currently teach a small number of classes in Skipton. I strive to teach directly from my own experience and have been doing so for the last 3 years. I'm currently studying the yoga texts as well as practicing asana and pranayama to find ways of applying the techniques and philosophy of yoga to daily life.

I was first introduced to yoga in 2001 at a local gym. Progress was slow at first and my attendance sporadic, remarkably my desire to learn more persisted and in 2004 I signed up for an Ashtanga beginners course at Union Yoga. I had found a practice that suited me both mentally and physically; at the end of the eight week course the seeds of a lifelong practice had been sown. This was not the 'big bang' moment and instant daily practice that lots of students/ teachers seem to experience, it was more of a slow burning process of building my practice and dumping less useful habits/ behaviours in favour of better ones.

Over the next five years my interest in yoga expanded and I benefitted greatly from the opportunity to learn from international Ashtanga teachers such as David Swenson, Matthew Sweeney, Anna Forest and Manju Jois. In 2009 I decided to become a yoga teacher and share the benefits of practising yoga with others. I completed teacher training with Brian Cooper & Union Yoga in 2013 and have continued to work on developing my practice, my teaching and my self ever since.

I am currently an Associate level 2 teacher with Yoga Alliance Professionals and I'm working towards Chartered level 1. I attend regular CPD courses with Yoga Alliance and other teachers.
