I began teaching by accident. After one of my fitness and conditioning classes at an MMA gym, I was asked to extend the class by an additional hour because the yoga teacher couldn’t make it. Being an avid yoga practitioner and seeing how fatigued the athletes were, I opted to run the yoga class myself.
The class was so successful that eventually I took over and also obtained a corporate yoga gig because of it. I soon began an even more dedicated practice and undertook my Yoga Teacher Training course (RYT200) with Manasa School of Yoga in SS2, Petaling Jaya, where my physical practice went to greater depths with the rich philosophy taught.
I enjoy all styles of yoga, while my training incorporated most traditional schools, including Sivananda, Iyengar and Ashtanga Vinyasa. I also have helped in yoga therapy classes for stroke and Parkinson’s victims, and am also teaching yoga for the blind.
Currently, I am a resident teacher and teacher mentor at Manasa Yoga School, SS2. I also am a freelance yoga teacher and fitness coach. In 2015, I became a licensed Broga ® Yoga instructor.
With a keen interest in sports, I have focussed on yoga for athletes. I have trained the young pro golfers of Malaysia in both fitness and yoga and was also asked to be featured in Running Malaysia magazine in a Yoga for Runners series. In 2015, I worked with FISAF Malaysia to produce a Yoga For Runners and Yoga for Athletes Workshops, the reception of which was encouraging.
Also bearing the Malaysian National Sports Council’s Sports Science level one certification, I also am a columnist in a local newspaper.
