Born in New Jersey in 1963, David first practiced meditation as a teenager. In yoga/meditation, David has studied extensively in the Iyengar and Ashtanga schools, and his practice and teaching is deeply influenced by the traditions of Satyananda Saraswati and the Thai Buddhist lineage of Ajahn Chah. David spent one year in India studying yoga and bansuri flute, and has received written authorization from K. Pattabhi Jois to teach Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. He also holds Yoga Alliance 500-Hour certification, Certificate IV in Teacher Training and Assessment from the Australian Government, has completed yoga teacher training with Richard Freeman. In 2006, David founded the Fana Yoga teacher training school, a Yoga Alliance registered school internationally certifying yoga instructors. David has extensive international teaching experience, teaching workshops and teacher-trainings in recent years in Australia, Chile, China, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States.
Over the past 25 years, David has travelled extensively, living and working in the USA, Europe, South America, Asia and Australia. David has taught workshops and teacher-trainings in Australia, Chile, China, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States.
Throughout his adult life, David has also worked in bioelectromagnetics, yoga/meditation, and as a musician. He was drawn to this path as a means of realizing a sense of wholeness in the connections between arts and sciences, yoga/meditation, and music. David holds a PhD in Neurophysiology from the University of Bologna, and has worked as a researcher in bioelectromagnetics since 1991, when he began at the Bioelectrochemistry Laboratory at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, NY, with Dr. Arthur Pilla. David’s research emphasis has been on electromagnetic field (EMF) therapeutics and mechanisms of interaction and he has been integral in the development of FDA-approved EMF therapy devices. He has published numerous articles on bioelectromagnetics and alternative medicine in peer-reviewed journals, and holds patents for therapeutic EMF signals and devices. David has also conducted research on Pranayama and Chinese Qigong practices. David currently is a member if the Visual Institute for Developmental Arts and Sciences in Bologna, Italy, and works as a consultant for several companies including Rio Grand Neurosciences, Ivivi Health Sciences, and iTech Medical. In 2014, David was an invited member of the Biofield Think Tank, sponsored by the Chopra Foundation and Samueli Institute, developing educational, research and integrative tools for mind-body healing modalities, and was also an invited lecturer at the International School of Bioelectromagnetics, Alessandro Chiabrera, in Erice, Sicily. David has also been invited as a member of the scientific advisory board for the Global Coherence Project, a science-based, co-creative project to unite people in heart-focused care and intention, to facilitate the shift in global consciousness from instability and discord to balance, cooperation and enduring peace.
