David came to the world of yoga and meditation via the world of psychology.
He received his in Clinical Psychology in 1994 and has worked in the psychotherapy field since 1995, eventually specializing in trauma and PTSD. This work led to a growing interest in mindfulness meditation, holistic approaches to wellness, and an interest in the overlap between physical/mental fitness and meditation. He was introduced to Mindfulness Meditation in 1996 and then discovered Vinyasa style yoga in 2003, practicing with Aaron Star in New York City. After a move to the Midwest in 2011, he discovered the benefits of Ashtanga Yoga and the Primary Series. In 2014, he became a registered yoga teacher at the 200 hour level with the Yoga Alliance, studying with Kelly and Evan Harris at Tapas Yoga Shala in Rock Island, IL. He is interested in continuing his practice of Ashtanga yoga and meditation, as well as developing thoughtful sequences that are a hybrid of Hatha and Vinyasa styles and address various aspects of the human condition. As a practitioner and teacher, he enjoys blending the physical and meditative aspects of yoga, approaching each moment in class as an opportunity for self-discovery, self-exploration, and self-improvement.
