Deb Roach

Hi, I'm Deb! I started my yoga practice in 1999, in Newtown at Samadhi Bliss in the days before Jivamukti. Yoga was just as effective as psychotherapy in helping me heal my childhood experiences of rejection, exclusion and isolation. What I've learned on the mat has replaced these experiences with patience, gratitude, self-acceptance and self-love. Every single time I showed up to my mat, I was discovering and unraveling what my unique body is capable of. Pushing the potential of this differently-shaped human package gave me the courage to leave my IT career in 2009. I left behind forever the experience of being permanently trapped in my head, and it was MAGICAL.

I started my second career as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, before completing my yoga teacher training with Power Living Australia Yoga (PLAY) in 2012. My style of yoga is powerful, practical and technical - as well as playful. I also teach Pilates matwork, Barre, Aerial Yoga and Pole dancing. I teach yin from time to time and have been known to lead the occasional guided meditation, but my 5 day a week passion is Dynamic or Heated Vinyasa yoga.

I've had 2 articles published on , written an e-book called Pole Translation (its about making movement accessible to everybody), and delivered a TedX talk at University College London in 2016. I've been a scholarship attendee at Barcelona Yoga Conference, at several AcroYoga immersions and I presented at Australia's First Wanderlust. I performed for 2 years in the UKs first integrated and inclusive circus company, Extraordinary Bodies and I'm 3 times international pole dance champion. Movement is my passion, and I'm compelled to share that as publicly as possible.

I'm NOT a superhuman. I'm NOT here to inspire you - but I accept that I probably will. I AM committed to breath work and balance, to guidance and growth, to educate and be educated in return. I'm definitely not for everyone - but that's where the yoga is! Every single person is welcome on any mat in any room with me. Come on in :)
