Debby Andersen, RYT-500, C. Ayu., blends the ancient wisdom of Yoga and Ayurveda into a practical, modern-day path of self-discovery and healing. A professionally trained dancer with over 18 years of teaching experience, Debby's classes integrate asana (yoga postures), pranayama (breathing practices), mindfulness, and therapeutic awareness with classical Yogic teachings and understanding of the cycles of nature.
Additionally Debby maintains a private practice in the healing tradition of Ayurveda, a system of holistic medicine that is native to India and shares with Yoga the same philosophical background and understanding of the body, mind, and spirit. Yoga is a path of awakening through realization of the true self, and Ayurveda supports this path through aligning the body and mind with the healing qualities of the natural world around us, removing the dis-ease that is so often an obstacle to freedom.
Debby discovered the healing power of yoga while traveling in India in 2005. It was then that she also discovered yoga's healing roots in Ayurveda, the traditional Indian system of medicine. She spent over a month living in an ashram, immersed in an Ayurvedic lifestyle and the practices of yoga. Debby's travels in India have inspired her to bring others to this sacred land in order to experience the transformative power of its culture, people, spiritual wisdom, and ancient practices. Check out her upcoming summer 2015 retreat, Himalayan Ascension: Ladakh (India) Yoga & Meditation Adventure (listed under Events).
Debby is certified to teach Hatha Yoga through Yoga Vidya Gurukal (Nasik, India). Debby is also a certified 500-hour Ayuryoga® teacher and a NAMA-registered Ayurvedic Practitioner.
