Debra Wolfe, E-RYT 500, RYS & certified Yoga Therapist

Debra has been practicing yoga since 1999 and in 2004 took her initial 200-hour teacher training in the Iyengar method. In 2005/2006 she completed her second 200-hour teacher training through Yoga Works where the emphasis was on the Ashtanga and Iyengar methods of yoga. In 2013, Debra completed her 500-hour training through the Ananda Wellness Institute in California. The program emphasized Yoga Therapeutics, Meditation and Ayurveda.

Debra is registered at the E-RYT 500 level through Yoga Alliance, is a certified Yoga Therapist and is a teacher of teachers, having created a RYT 200-hour teacher training program and is credentialed as a Registered Yoga School through Yoga Alliance. Debra’s teacher training program is based on the eight constituents of Patanjali’s Ashtanga-Yoga. The Hatha Yoga training honors the Iyengar method for learning yoga postures, with great emphasis on alignment, anatomy, and basic yoga therapeutics, which she feels is necessary and foundational for any beginner teacher.

In addition to the passion Debra feels for teaching yoga, she also has owned and operated an integrated health and yoga facility for more than 9 years called Urban Oasis Yoga and Wellness before selling it in early 2015.

Today, Debra lives in beautiful Port Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State with her family. She owns a small yoga studio called NW Yoga Shala where she run’s weekly classes, monthly workshops, advance trainings, once a year teacher training and offers private therapeutic yoga sessions.

Debra is the owner/director of Urban Oasis Yoga & Wellness. She has been practicing yoga sense 1999. She took her initial 200 hour training in the Iyengar method in 2004 and continued to mentor with Matt Queen for 6 months based on this training. In 2005/2006 she took her second 200hr teacher training with Yoga Works were the emphasis was on Ashtanga and Iyengar Yoga and became registered with Yoga Alliance. In 2013 she completed a 500 hour teacher training program through Ananda Seva Yoga & Meditation Center in California. This program emphasized Yoga Therapeutics, Meditation and Ayurveda.

Debra has worked with many experienced and knowledgeable doctors, yoga teachers and yoga therapists over the years such as Aadil Palkhivala, JD, CYT, AHS, Avadhutiika Ananda Deviika Ma Acharya, MSc, E-RYT 500, Jnani Chapman RN, Sarasvati Buhrman, PhD, RYT 500, Deborah Karish, ERYT, DC, MR and Antonio Sausys, MA, RYT. Today Debra is certified as an ERYT-500 & CYT.

With over 4300 hours of teaching experience, Debra created and launched her 200-hour teacher training program in 2013 that is based on the eight constituents of Patanjali’s Ashtanga-Yoga. It is a full-service Integrative health and wellness facility offing Acupuncture, Chiropractic, Naturopathy, Psychotherapy, Hypnotherapy, Massage and Yoga Therapy as well as 35 yoga and meditation classes a week taught in 11 different styles.
