One does not need to be spry or flexible to do Iyengar yoga. Props help you to understand and do the pose until you are able to do without. It is a pragmatic style of yoga that at first may seem to be slow and lacking power. However, continued effort and correct alignment bring huge power to the individual and to the body.
My Iyengar practice began in my early 50's, and today, at 68 I can hold my own with teachers half my age. Iyengar yoga is the greatest gift I could have given myself. To be able to share it with others is one of the greatest joys of my life.
