I have been practicing Yoga for about 12 years. I came to my first yoga class as a cross trainer for my athletic endeavors. After years of working out and playing sports, I was amazed at how it challenged me physically but at the same time stretched, lengthened and wrung me out. I found a sense of clarity- whether it is in Bakasana (crow) or Savasana (final resting pose). It wasn't until I had my first daughter that I had the opportunity to deepen my practice. In December of 2007, I began my 200 hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training with Dolly Stavros of Red Stone Yoga. That certification changed my life. It opened my eyes to a whole new world. It empowered and challenged me which allowed me to look within myself and see who I am and what I really want- on and off the mat. I began teaching yoga in 2008 and I have not looked back! I absolutely love what I do. It is amazing to watch students tackle a new pose or drop their "baggage" and get out of their heads for an hour. To give my students the opportunity to empower themselves is a task that I hold in the highest regard. I have 4 children now and I credit my yoga practice for getting me back to my pre-pregnancy weight- each time- and giving me a peace of mind that helps me be the best Mother that I can be. In addition to teaching classes and workshops, I am also a contributing writer for Teachasana, elephant journal, MindBodyGreen and Eat, Live, Life. I am also so excited to lead Charlottesville's first 200 Hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training this fall 2014!!
